Gift for Italian man I don't know (aged 50)!

I am really struggling with this one. I need to send a gift to my DSis's DP, who is an Italian man aged around 50. I don't know him at all well, he doesn't speak any English and whatever I choose needs to be sent directly to Italy, preferably from Amazon (because my gift for DSis will come from there). That's a tall order, isn't it! Any ideas?

A nice belt? Decent smellies? Italians usually like being well groomed

I guess my budget is up to about £20. I like the beer idea because it's so British, but I'm not sure they can send them to Italy.

Smellies might be good, if I can just find something nice.

A belt maybe not, because I'm sure he can buy nicer Italian leather ones over there. This is the problem with most things I can think of - you can buy better ones in Italy!

have you considered ordering off Italian amazon.it? Might save delivery charges. I ordered a lego set because the prices were significantly better at the time - think 75% of price and in euros as well - and it was all very very easy. I don't speak Italian, but all the buttons were in the same places and once you're logged in it just uses your normal amazon uk details.

How about a nice tin of British biscuits, or some chutney that goes well with any cheeses?

Any Italian will appreciate food, a good olive oil, good bottle of wine, panatone etc.

Italians do appreciate good food and wine but my advice is don't buy anything Italian for him because even if you think it's a good one - he's likely to know a better one IYSWIM.

yy to mortimer's advice - go for something British themed rather than Italian. The British are known throughout Europe for tea - what about a fancy tin box of loose leaf Earl Grey or the like? Or something by Duchy Originals, shortbread etc?
