Ds is an only child so am wondering whether its any good for playing on your own or if he will always need someone else to play with?

sorry can't help, but watching with interest as MIL has bought this for our DS for Xmas, and he is an only child. He is normally quite resourceful playing by himself, so hoping it will be ok, and I assume DH will want to re-live his childhood as well Xmas Smile

Hopefully someone will be along that already has it!

God is that still going? My uncle had that. He played it by himself assuming it hasn't changed.

Yeah, it seems to have made a comeback this year! Just don't know if its worth it or if it will collect dust!

Hmm. DS was asking about this. I suggested that for a keen video gamer it might seem rather lame. But we'll see, as DH has threatened to dig out his ancient set from the attic.

My brother had the whole lot growing up, used to play for hours with the stuff. So much so I've got him a set for Xmas (in his mid twenty a now!) so he can relive his youth! He was very into football though and used to make up his own leagues and such like! Grin

Still unsure but ds would definitely be excited to receive it, if only in the short term.

My ds got Subbuteo a few months ago. I can highly recommend it (he's 7). He loves it despite having a console too. It's vastly improved since we were kids - mainly because you can't break the players any more (they're flexible and don't snap).

A couple of his mates have played it when they've been over and apparently it's on their Christmas lists too

He likes collecting his favourite teams - there are quite a few to choose from I've also bought him a few bits of original Subbuteo for Christmas like a scoreboard.

TheCatInTheHairnet · 03/12/2012 19:03

Is it back?! Excellent. That's my 38 year old brother's Christmas present sorted!! He can teach it to his son!

Llareggub · 03/12/2012 19:05

Ooooh, I loved Subbuteo! Wonder if my 6 year old would like it?

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 03/12/2012 19:19

You can't break them? Damn, there's no fun in it if you can't chop off a Tottenham player's leg Xmas Wink

Am surprised at how many people love it! Is there more to it than flicking players to hit the ball or am I totally missing the point?

Flicking players? Flicking players? That's the same as saying "is there more to football than players kicking the ball?" Grin

bodiddly · 04/12/2012 15:40

I would probably say that as well though!! Can you tell I'm not a footie fan?
