Usually on Christmas Eve we have an early lunch then take the DC out for a walk/feed reindeer/go to a visitors centre. Then the Christmas Eve Hampers and a film on DVD.

This year DH is working on the 24th. What shall I do with the DC? (DS is 13 ,DD is 10.6).

We go bowling on NYE.
I don't really want to be ploughing through the crowds in the shopping centres.

DS would rather be on his X-Box (but I'm going to drag him off it)

So. Cinema?

Or any other ideas?

Why can't you just do what you normally do, minus the DH?

I'm working too until 1600 on Christmas Eve. What about some Christmas craft or cooking at home?

Shops are much less crowded by Christmas Eve, plus there's iften a Salvation Army band or similar playing, it can be nice to wander round, get a hot chocoate and mince pie and soak up the atmosphere.

Are you near the coast? Beach is also nice.

Not sure why you need to change - is it that you can't drive?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/12/2012 19:52

I'm the driver in our house- (DH doesn't drive).

We do the walk as a family day out , it would be a bit weird without DH there.
And I'd need a crowbar to extract DS from his precious X-Box.

I'm not keen to drive into town, it will be manic.
But we can go by bus, and the hot chocolate & mince pies sounds lovely Smile

We go swimming to a pool with lots of big slides... One of the few days of the year you don't have to queue for them. Even better now youngest is over 8 I can watch from the side.
