Hi ds just said he would like croissants and crumpets for Christmas breakfast. Am I able to buy fresh croissants and freeze them then defrost and warm in oven that morning. If I don't get them while I think about it I will forget, he will remember though so want yo make sure I have them!

Yes I do this all the time!

Great thanks how long do I heat for? Bit crap at cooking if I am honest!

Lots of farm shops do fantastic frozen uncooked croissants which you just pop in the oven. Taste totally fresh!

Waitrose do those actually, and pain au chocolat and au raisin. The cooking instruction are on the bag! Grin

What about those croissants in a can things? Yey undo them, fold them into shape and bake in the oven.

We buy them in aldi but everywhere does them in the fridge section by the pastry. we used to love rolling our own ones and sitting by the oven watching them rise!

We buy the frozen croissants & pain au chocolat from Sainsburys & they are lovely - we always have a pack in the freezer ready for a Sunday morning, birthday breakfast or Christnas when we have a croissant + glass of champagne to start the day off. We also use the ones that come in the can although not at christmas as one less thing to do as the frozen ones pop straight in oven.

We freeze all fresh bakery. With fresh croissants I prefer them to the dozen uncooked ones. Just take out of the freezer the night before and then 5 mins in a 180 oven in the morning should work.

Our favourites our tesco bakery finest, Raymond Blanc's favourite too!

Frozen not dozen.

Lidl do the frozen ones too, not tried them but bought some for the same reason

Fresh ones frozen are nicer than the part baked ones.

I think cooked frozen are better than uncooked frozen eg Waitrose. Both are better than canned, i really don't like the canned ones. However cooked ones take up a lot more freezer space.
