Present ideas for 7 yr old DD

Just that really. We're finding it really hard to get ideas for DD this year - she can't think of anything for her FC list apart from one of the Rainbow Fairy books. Very sweet that she is so contented with what she has but not helpful in terms of inspiration. Any ideas gratefully received ...

We are going for a lot of craft things...beads and charms (not kits but nicer, more adult type ones) for our DD aged 8....also you could think about a pair of heelies? What about a microscope? Camera? Perhaps some nice paints and canvass?

tootssweet · 28/11/2012 23:54

My 7yo dd is exactly the same & feeling a bit stressed by it. We have got her some Lego & a kindle fire which is a bit extravagant but I think she'll get a lot out of. She asked for the narnia books so we will pre-load them on. I might get the Brave DVD too but think that is it. Family are getting her vouchers so she can shop with her kindle on Christmas day. Oh & some sweets.

VforViennetta · 29/11/2012 00:14

Dd has been awkward to buy for too since she got a bit older, she has never really been into toys tbh. Hama beads always go down well, maybe something for her room (lava lamp, artwork/duvet featuring whatever she is into atm). She is well into her computer/console games too, her ipod touch went down extremely well.

Funnily enough at 9 she suddenly likes my little pony Hmm, maybe at 16 she will go through an ironic sylvanian family/doll/barbie phase Grin.

If she likes books maybe a kindle/fire/kobo ???

lia66 · 29/11/2012 00:17

My 7 yr dd has asked for one direction everything from Santa and moshi everything from us.

sunnyday123 · 29/11/2012 07:04

CaipirinhasAllRound · 29/11/2012 08:56

My niece is 6 and a half and told me she wants sylvanian families stuff. She loves Lego and making things so I'm getting her some sewing stuff

LolaLadybird · 29/11/2012 22:06

Hi. Thanks everyone for your ideas. I think like a lot of the suggestions we will go largely for craft stuff as it is the one thing that she really likes - like Vienetta's DD, ours has never been much into toys - we have tried lego, sylvanians etc without much interest. She had a camera last Christmas.

Lia66 - can you explain moshi to me? Interestingly one of DH's friends recommended this today as his DD is heavily into them but I've no idea what its all about {behind the times}.

Moshi Monsters are a set of characters from Moshimonsters.com. Kids go on the site to play games and to "buy" "things" to dress up their online rooms....there are codes for more stuff in the sets of cards and stickers and of course, the comics.

If she's not a fan of the website then she'll not be bothered about the toys I shouldn't think.

You'd have to intro her to it....my DD asked to go on it after hearing about it at school.

LolaLadybird · 29/11/2012 22:33

Thanks MrsM, I'll have a look.

It has to be said that our DD loves the collectable side of Moshi monsters but isn't into the website - we simply haven't told her it is there, and she hasn't asked to go on it. We've got her a Moshi towel, board game and some of the little figures and cards for Christmas, and the Moshi game for her DS.

JennyWren · 30/11/2012 10:20

To be clear , for her Nintendo DS, not her son Grin

MrsMushroom · 30/11/2012 12:02

Once they get a look at the stuff though, they read the bumf and it will suggest they visit the site "to get rare moshlings" etc and a word of warning....if your DD does go on it, there's a chat facility which is a bit dodgy really. My DD is allowed on the site but I dont' let her chat.

RunOrRioja · 30/11/2012 12:15

My almost 7 your old dd is getting

Kerplunk
Junior scrabble
Pictionary
Pass the pigs
Lots of books
Proper digital piano
Stationery
Tv ad DVD player for her room
Story cubes

Stocking fillers are sweets, tattoos, toiletries and other bits and bobs.

Fresh01 · 30/11/2012 13:55

My almost 7 year old has asked for a pogo stick and in line roller skates. She is also getting a few small sylvanian bits, a small Lego Friends set, books and craft things.

My 5 and nearly 7 enjoy collecting the Moshi monsters but aren't interested in the website or cards aspect of them.

BieneMaja · 30/11/2012 13:57

Mine is getting Design a Friend and a load of clothes. Lots of books and possibly a 2nd hand netbook...

MrsMushroom · 30/11/2012 18:07

Mine LOVE their design a friends!

MrsMushroom · 30/11/2012 18:08

I got them last year but might get some more clothes for them. They're lovely quality and so little girl-like....no silly big lips or boobs.

QueenofWhatever · 01/12/2012 12:20

My DD (nearly 8) is getting another year's subscription to National Geographic Kids magazine. I got it for £14 with my Tesco vouchers. She absolutely loves it.

She is also a Moshi fan but is not allowed on the website, it's not essential. You can get Moshi sticker books which are good.

Maybe I'm tight but I find a Kindle for a child OTT. Mine is also getting a nightie, hair bands and a book on horses (all off eBay).

LolaLadybird · 02/12/2012 09:38

More ideas - thank you all. And thanks for the Moshi tips, I had a look at the website the other night and I was worried about the chat potential. DD's friend has some Moshi stuff and she is now asking for it so think we might start small and see if there is any interest. Any good ideas about where to start?!

Lola, you can buy little bags with a couple of figures for £1.99 in the supermarket, and there is a magazine as well, for about the same price. Those are DD's occasional treats of choice and would probably be a good place to start.
