Quadrilla marble run- worth the money?

Thinking about getting this for my nearly 4yo dd who loves building stuff. Have seen these around on tinternet and just wandered whether to go for it?

When I posted a question about marble runs I got lots of recommendations for the Galt marble run , there's ordinary or mega marble run.

Ds really liked ours back in the day. Shall I ask hi. Whether he wants to part with it/ would you consider a used one in good nick? Pm me if interested.

We've got one, DCs are 5 & 7 and could probably set it up by themselves but I generally get involved. I love it but interestingly at this age when friends come round after initial play it gets ignored. You never find anyone rearranging it, a big set can look intimidating so I guess they don't like to wade in.

It is a 'long term' toy, I've just passed on the elc play people set and I'm sure the toy cooker will go eventually but imagine we'll keep Quadrilla like a xmas game....

(SIL has an organic, Steiner/Waldorf wooden thing from I think Myraid, it's very simple, falls apart and very, very overpriced, )

My DC and actually DP and I love the quadrilla. We got the basic starter pack which you can make about 8 different marble runs with, then FC bought one of the connector packs the following year. It was money very well spent. They still get it out from time to time now and have a lovely time re arranging the pieces.
It's really well made and the instructions if you want to follow them, are very clear. The only downfall if I was forced to think of one would be that the pieces don't 'click' together as it's wooden. They sort of rest on top on one another, and if knocked will fall over and destroy the whole structure. But part of the fun is making it so don't let it put you off.

We got the basic and melody sets and all have great fun. The musical notes add to the fun. It also entertains both adults and children a like who come to visit. While the bigger sets are expensive you can pick up add ons for a reasonable price for future birthday / Christmas gifts :)

Where do people recommend buying them from?

I have 2 sets for my kids aged 3-9 and they are Quadrilla. They cost a bit more but they are timeless and grow with the kids. You also get booklets with 8+ plus ways of making them up and the kids can also make their own thing so your not restricted. I got mine from www.whywoodworks.com best to go for the bigger sets if you can afford them as there's more play value. Hope this helps.
