I hate wrapping pressies. Love the rest of Christmas, but I'm just not very good at wrapping and it takes forever. Any ideas? Are there christmas bags/sacks I can buy relatively cheaply and simply place pressies in without having to cut paper etc? Or would not being able to rip pressies apart, sending the paper flying everywhere, take away some of the fun for my dc's?

My dp does it. I could hire him out.............

My local Waterstines has a charity stall at Christmas where you make a donation to get your presents wrapped.

Pay me to do it, I do mostly enjoy it :) seriously, any teenager who wants to earn a bit of extra cash in the family???

Trizelda · 27/11/2012 13:02

I have bought a big supply of gold and silver bags (like cinema popcorn bags) from Ebay for each of the small presents. One piece of sellotape and maybe a matching bow and you are done!

Tissue paper makes things considerably easier, and it doesn't matter if its neat! Gift bags and different shaped boxes with shredded tissue paper are good for kids if you can't be arsed to wrap as they have to dig around to find the presents.
I love wrapping, pour myself a drink, get the fire stoked up and sit on the floor in the lounge with the telly on. Even better is getting my dsis to come round as she cuts the selotape!!

Wrap in tissue paper, shred more tissue, put shredded tissue in gift bag with tissue wrapped present - write on tag - done !

Brown paper bags, staple closed with a sprig of holly, twirl of ribbon and brightly coloured label.

My DP hates wrapping and so I do all his side of the family, and then present him with a selection of gift bags for him to put my presents in!

Poundland is doing really good deals this year on gift bags, or those wonderfully dreadful christmas tat shops that pop up around now, and if you pop a bit of tape on the top then people can't peek. Also if they're shiny bags the tape peels right off and you can re-use them for years, much easier than re-using normal paper.

Having said that, I think the paying teenagers idea above sounds best!

I got loads of gift bags from Card Factory. They're all priced at x number of bags for £1, depending on the size (e.g. tiny ones are 8 for £1, bog standard size were 4 for £1 iirc, larger ones 3 for £1). Great if you need a few of the same size.

I tend to put a couple of bits of tape to hold it shut, then one long bit of tape right along the top.

We did also use wrapping paper for some presents. Also from card factory (was 3 rolls for £1).

Ikea have got some little brown paper bags with Father Christmas on them this year here 12 for £2. I am planning to use them for homemade biscuits etc but they'd be fine for small presents.

jennimoo · 27/11/2012 20:49

I'd also get bags from the card factory, don't know how they can sell them so cheap!

AlmostAChristmasHipster · 27/11/2012 20:53

I use one of those Sellotape wristband thingys because I have a disproportionately angry reaction to losing the end of the tape! They're brilliant and save me a lot of stress.

bedmonster · 28/11/2012 10:07

Almost are they worth the loss of street cred?! I expressed an interest about 2 years ago and my DP laughed at me Hmm. However as I do all of the shopping and wrapping for both sides of the family, I think I should be cut some slack.
Do they really work and are they easy to refill etc?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 28/11/2012 10:58

Bed They are amazing :o We have 8 so they're always to hand (boom-boom!)

I do everyone's wrapping...mine, familys, my bosses...I'm going to ire myself out!

bedmonster · 28/11/2012 11:21

Okay, i'm taking the sticky plunge...

bedmonster · 28/11/2012 11:21

^Ha!! Oops, not quite like that!

DowntonTrout · 28/11/2012 11:47

Pound shop!

They have sets of Xmas bags for £1 for 3 I think, but all different sizes. Buy some tissue to cover the gift it the bag. they sell packs of tissue for £1 too for 15 sheets.

TeeBee · 28/11/2012 12:07

I know this isn't helpful for this year, but I buy loads of gift bags after Christmas and store them for the following year - for this very reason. HATE wrapping.
