Hawkin's Bazaar 'lego' - is it any good, does anyone know?

Sorry if this has been done before, but I got a Hawkin's Bazaar catalogue in the post today and noticed they have some sets of what look to be lego but clearly are some other brand. Apparently compatible with lego, though, and look alright.

Does anyone know if it's any good? Although it's cheaper than lego, it's not cheap, so don't want to waste £50 if it's rubbish. Only one review online. Am looking at the space station and the castle for DSs 1 and 2.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Personally I would go for the real thing.

Ooh I have been wondering the same myself - will watch with interest.

I am veering towards the Hawkins Bazaar stuff just because you get so much more for your money - surely all plastic bricks are the same??

Hopefully someone will come along with the answer shortly Smile

No idea I'm afraid, but if you decide to go for it, £5 off £40 spend up until Sunday with code SAVE.

I also got the catalogue. I don't know if it's the same brand but DS got given some not-Lego things for his birthday and they really aren't as good - they are a bit bendy and just don't fit together very well.

I know real Lego is expensive but it is very well made and lasts for ages

I've had some sets of "non lego" Lego before - not the same make as Hawkins have but a similar oriental type. It was fine - definitely not as good quality as lego but it was good enough and is now in the general lego population with no issues.

We had a police station and a few other bits when the kids were smaller - the police station windows didn't last the distance but it was less than 20 quid compared to the then price of about 50 quid for the real thing. They got the real one when their interest lasted. along with virtually every lego set ever made

The worst I found in terms of compatibility was mega bloks smaller Lego sized bricks.
