For me it's bendicks bittermints and green ginger wine. I'm trying to resist buying any till December or I'll just scoff them all immediately.

I'm not a massive fan of Christmas generally and find it quite stressful but I do love the food. What is the best xmassy taste and smell?

I read on here last year about doing orange garlands - something about drying out orange slices in the oven? I should do that this year but can't remember exactly what to do... Blush

Lush have a bubble bar called Christmas Eve and it actually does smell of Christmas Eve!
Taste for me is Danish butter biscuits and the green triangle.

Fuzzpig ive been trying to find that too.

Satsumas, Christmas pud, m&s chocolate ruby and cranberry sauce for taste

Cinnamon candles, roast dinners and the fruit soaking in sherry for smells!

Nordman Firs don't smell of anything

Cinnamon.

Those soft gingery biscuits with white icing.

Baileys.

Sprouts.

Spiced beef or ham simmering away in a spiced stock on christmas eve.

The smell of chopped onions in the morning - dad always started making the stuffing while we were opening our presents.

Frying rashers in the morning - we had rasher sandwiches every year, and never had them for breakfast any other day.

Turkey, roasties, sprouts, stuffing - oh, how i love christmas dinner.

Cinnamon, oranges, brandy - I'm making my christmas cake this weekend and looking forward hugely to that combination hitting my nose : )

Christmas pudding

fuzzpig · 02/11/2012 16:22

Christmas pudding/cake and mince pies don't make me feel Christmassy - I don't like any of them!

TafferineWheel · 02/11/2012 16:38

We get a Nordman Fir every year and I can sure smell it! Admittedly not as strong as a drop its needles everywhere Norway Spruce, but def has some pong

For me the smell of Christmas is new paint on radiators. Weird I know, but my mum usually got a sudden mania for sprucing up the house around Christmas-time and would often whizz round slapping a coat of Dulux on things. It's so funny but now I only have to smell that odd hot-paint aroma to instantly feel Christmassy Grin

As for tastes - yes, satsumas every time. Plus mince pies and Brazil nuts. I bought the first lot of nuts today actually.
