I've just been presented (well I did ask!) for DS's Christmas list. For the first time it has massively pricey things like a DS3, an Ipod Touch (not sure he knows exactly one of these is!) and an Ipad (!!)
We aren't really technologgy household with only one TV (nearly 8 years old), one laptop and DH's work Ipad. However, putting the money aside, I can't help thinking that the cheapest laptop would be better that any of these things. Its probably only not on his list because I said no way when he asked for one a few months ago.
I can never get on my laptop because, thanks to ITC at school, he loves Microsoft Word, loves creating documents and inserting pictures etc, likes to mess around with pictures we've taken etc as well as go on the internet.
The rules would be parental controls fitted, not allowed in his bedroom at all and, like the wii, not allowed after 6pm (don't want it to take the place of books).
He is very outdoorsy and has loads of activities and friends so I'm not concerned about the sedentiary issues with him but is it just too much too soon?
Am not normally bothered what anyone thinks but I've caught myself by suprise by considering this (think I saw similar thread before and thought the person was crazy).
