I think most people would agree that teenage boys are notoriously hard to buy for. So I thought I'd start a thread for mid range presents. Not Hawkins bazaar type stocking fillers. Decent presents which will be well received and useful.

Last year ds1 received;
Skullcandy headphones
A swiss army knife (with his name engraved on the blade)
Aftershave
A hoody
Smelly set from boots
Feckin Skyrim xbox game which to be fair, he is still playing.

These were all well received, especially the swiss army knife, which was a complete surprise to Ds.

This year I'm at a loss what to buy. All he wants more xbox games. His aunt and uncles will buy him one each and I think that's enough.

Please come and share your ideas :)

A Swedish fire steel?

An expensive weather resistant watch? There's a Seiko men's 5 watch on amazon atm reduced from £295 to £65 that looks nice.

If anyone has Celtic mad boys, there's a half price sale in the shop just now.

Bumping because I have a 13 yr old, who has no idea what he wants! £10 - 20 gifts needed!

dame thanks for that link. I'll have a look through when I can get on a big screen.

Right. I've bought ds1 his first present.
Skyrim for the pc.

Why he needs it for the pc when he has spent 12 months playing the same bloody game on the xbox I don't know!

I've seen some lovely thick wooly boot socks in matalan which will be worth picking up, althouth Ds has told me I'm welcome to buy him some waterproof ones for 40.00 each if I like! That will a no :o

This is sooooooooo helpful. As you can prob tell I have triplets, a girl and 2 boys, they will be 15 in Jan. My dd is easy to buy for but I do struggle with the boys, so all your ideas are brill! Mine too are cadets, ATC, air training corps, they have already got loads of cadet stuff as they are doing their bonze DOE. I always do them all a stocking, pens, torch, socks, silly tricks, sweets, magazine etc.

Boxers/socks/t-shirts - primark is the popular choice as they have the best designs :)

Books/dvds always popular.

Vouchers are popular too - mine love I-tunes/Jack Wills - wary of some other shop vouchers in the current climate (thinking of the game vouchers we almost couldn't use)

Silly stuff is always popular - this year its those aeroplanes you propel using an elastic band - should keep them occupied for a while.

Great thread? I?ve got 2 boys 13 + 11 and all they want is ps3 games.
I?m thinking about buying them a gaming chair as the like driving games and have a wheel but it?s not easy to use.
Last years most successful pressie was an ice watch. We have an outlet nearby so they weren?t too expensive and they both love them
Otherwise, kit for their sports, (sailing and fencing)
Music / itunes ,
anything from Superdry or accessories from Topman
books and annuals
stuff for school like nice pens, coloured pencils, and pencil cases
pj?s and slippers

I bought my teenage daughter a voucher for a bungee jump (came in presentation tin with bungee lanyard and pen). Was with UK Bungee and I purchased using Tesco clubcard points!! Actually I did wonder what I had done after I placed the order but my daughter was actually so excited and surprised - it was a real 'OOOOHHHH' moment when she opened it. I know the thread is about teen boys but i'm sure they would be as brave as the girls!!! Grin

We tend to go for silly gifts under the tree as well as 1 or 2 slightly more expensive ones.

Smellies
Socks
cushion/blankie for watching TV
Choc
Starbucks card pre loaded
Book
DVD
72 REAL weetabix (mean mum buys own brand!)

etc

Viz annual
Comedy dvd
t shirts - shotdeadinthehead (website) has good tv & film themed ones. Some are a bit rude though!
Football/rugby ball/shirt/socks/boots/tickets
Nice toiletries
Belt
Designer underwear/socks
Aftershave
Something silly like blow up sumo suit!
All things that went down well with my teenage bro.

We've given up with the smellie box set things as he would end up not using the belt or key ring etc. We now fill a box of all the toiletries that he uses eg razors, shaving gel, hair gel, deodrant, body spray. Boots have 3 for 2 on most things and if you collect points and go to one of their Christmas bonus days then it is well worth it.

Also he has
Superdry Boxers
Sweets
Socks - he says it is not Christmas unless he has socks
Earphones
Dressing gown - every couple of years
Game for the playstation
Couple of books
Aftershave
Probably some driving lesson vouchers this year

Usually he has few things like jumpers and Tshirts but he chooses these when he is with me as it is too much of a risk to choose them myself.

And probably more stuff, as I hide things and then forget I have bought them, think his pile looks small and then rush out and buy a few more things.

I've done a zombie box, as my ds is really into the walking dead. I got various zombie novelties and DVDs and I plan to put it all well wrapped into a box filled with cooked spaghetti and pasta sauce as a zombie lucky dip. I have also made a 'snacks round the world' hamper full if pot noodles, Doritos and all the craP he likes. In the past a toolkit has gone down well, as do torches, bike repair bits, and camping stuff. My dd has got some fake winning lottery tickets from eBay for him. Not sure how they will go down!

My teenage brother wanted a Maglite torch at that age. Viz something or other usually goes down well with older teens and older. The men in my family usually sit there chortling to themselves on Christmas afternoon whilst the rest of us watch the Christmas film.

Amazon have a Tim Burton 8 DVD box set for 15 pound if anybody's Ds is a TB fan. It's quite a mixed range. Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd are not your usual combo :o I think it includes a book, going by the reviews but the synopsis is in Spanish so I can't be sure.

Voldermort If you have no joy on tinterweb, I can get you military items from our local shop. They definately have a waterproof notepad. Not expensive. I'll check out the other in-stock items (bungees, bulling cloth, housewife, pocket first aid kit, twists, cam cream etc) and note them down if you like? They don't stock webbing as this is a Service issue item. I think they might have mess tins, certainly KFS (Knife/fork/spoon in a clip holder). Top tip, on mess tin storage: place unfolded teatowel between the 2 mess tins when you put the little one inside the big one, wrap the spare towel round the outside - stops the clanging/scraping together (tactical tick) and also provides drying cloth after washing up in the field (hygiene tick).

There's a new National Geographic year book - more or less a diary with loads of other interesting stuff in it.

Also maybe Top Gear annual? There are 2 versions - an adult one and a child's one - careful how you choose... Wink

Mine usually have some designer boxers rather than Primark which is what they normally get!

Funky t-shirts.

There's a website called 'Presents for men' that has loads of stuff suitable for teens

everyday Thanks for the offer but between Amazon and Cadet UK I'm finding some decent bargains. We've also got an army surplus shop in town.

Cadet UK have a Jetboil cooker for 67.00 compared to 90.00 on Amazon. It looks like a great little lightweight cooker for the outdoors. I don't think DS would get enough use out of it for that price though. Although I know he could use it when he goes fishing and I could borrow it when I go walking.

parsnipcake DS2 mad on the Walking Dead and he likes a good post apocalyptic novel. Where do you get "zombie novelties". I could pack him an OFRS Wink.
I got him a flint fire lighter thing last year which he loves.

DS1 is very science mad and I got some geeky gifts from this website.
Maps and posters always go down well.

If you type 'zombie' into amazon, loads of stuff will come up - zombie energy drink, makeup, survival kit etc. Most if it is very cheap.
