Hi, looking for suggestions on where to get the children each a Christmas stocking that they can re-use each year?

lands ends normally have beautiful ones

WhatWouldVegansDo · 27/09/2012 15:45

Or www.etsy.com/ but beware customs charges if buying from a non-EU seller.

humblebumble · 27/09/2012 15:46

here

oops x post

folksy.com/items/3537905-Personalised-Quilted-Christmas-Stocking-Snowman- From same seller as my first link, different design but kinda matching, so siblings have similar?

purpleroses · 27/09/2012 15:48

We use my dad's old football socks! They are much better than anything you can buy because they're stretchy so you have to pull each present out separately. Presume you could buy men's football socks at any sports shop.

ChippyMinton · 27/09/2012 15:48

Stitch them?
They may have grown up and left home by the time you've finished, but they are beautiful Smile

Gosh, this one is a bargain: folksy.com/items/2782482-Christmas-Quilted-Stocking-Handmade-from-reindeer-print-fabric-

You can make felt ones very easily even if you're not much of a sewer?

nickeldaisical · 27/09/2012 16:02

haven't made DD's yet (she was 13 days old on christmas day last year, i thought it could wait! Grin)

Those embroidered ones are gorgeous but you can get them ready stitched for much less at Land End.

You have to put stocking into the search box as there's no category for them, bit odd but there you go.

I've got three and another on order for ds3 who isn't due till January but you never know Smile

I also made or customised our own for the older boys, They have got two as the embroidered ones are a bit small iykwim.

EdMcDunnough · 27/09/2012 16:20

Not sure if this works

ChippyMinton · 27/09/2012 17:26

Ed, those are lovely Smile

kellestar · 27/09/2012 17:38

I bought sack for DD's presents from santa.

MIL made a beautiful stocking for DD like this

I would have loved to have knitted her one like this though

IWantToGoToThere · 27/09/2012 21:20

I can offer no solutions sadly, only another question if I may gatecrash?

I would love to buy some knitted Christmas stockings for my Ds's. When I grew up my brother and I used to pick out a woollen sock from Dad's drawer (and spend ages choosing the biggest, stretchiest ones we could find to accommodate the most presents!) and the sight of seeing it all bulging with presents the next morning was just so exciting. So I'd like to have woollen or knitted stockings for my boys as I think they look more exciting once filled, than fabric ones. These would be heirloom stockings (in my dreams my boys will grow up respecting these memories and passing them on to their kids!!) so don't mind spending a bit.

Any thoughts?

Fresh01 · 27/09/2012 21:25

Some lovely stocking links, thank you.

ChippyMinton, making them would be a lovely idea but with 4 kids under 7 and x-mas only 12 weeks away............

IWanToGoToThere, funny you should mention the knitted ones as I had a knitted stocking as a child.

Off to go look at the links - DH thinks I have gone mad thinking about x-mas this early!

I made my boys one each out of an old net curtain, following a family tradition because I had a net curtain stocking growing up.

BigFatLegsInWoolyTIghts · 27/09/2012 21:34

Those sacks are gorgeous!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 27/09/2012 22:40

Pottery Barn Kids has gorgeous ones. Regular Pottery Barn ones are lovely too.

WhatWouldVegansDo · 28/09/2012 11:36

Oh wow, those Pottery Barn ones are amazing!

Some0ne · 28/09/2012 12:36

Ooh, I really like the Pottery Barn ones. I think I might go for the quilted ones.

fuzzpig · 28/09/2012 12:45

Those look amazing - I am on mobile so can't see full site easily, just wondering do you know if pottery barn does affordable shipping to UK?
