I use Waitrose Deliver every Christmas and they have never let me down. They are the only ones that come up our road in the snow. I always do my delivery around 22nd - just in case there are any essentials missing.

I then get DH to get them in town, thus bypassing any mad local shopping whatsoever. Smile

DameEnidsOrange · 23/09/2012 19:10

LadySib, if they don't deliver, you can do an order to collect from store - not quite the same as sitting waiting for it to arrive at home, but still saves the actual frantic rush through the store.

Last year when we went in to collect an order, we were given complimentary coffee and mince pies while they brought our order out Smile

mrsmoody - you can put a note against each item to say don't sub, or sub with whatever product you want, but agree their subs policy is pretty crap

I'm a bit confused by the site - I've been waiting for a few days for all the Christmas products - turkey, Christmas pud etc - to be shown, because it said somewhere the stuff would be online from the 18th onwards.

I've never ordered from Waitrose before because we don't live in Britain, but will be here this Xmas. I want to order online - to make sure we get Heston's Orange Christmas Pud etc before it sells out - and collect the food ourselves on the 22nd. How can I do that if the turkey isn't on offer? Or has it magically appeared in the last few hours?

roooibos · 23/09/2012 19:40

Because it's store based, it's best to get anything you really do need before, thinking Heston Pudding etc, if it's not there when your shopping is shopped then you may be unlucky.

LadySybildeChocolate · 23/09/2012 19:42

Dame they only deliver party food to the store here. Confused It's not huge, more like a Sainsburys local if you know what I mean.

DameEnidsOrange · 23/09/2012 20:21

Nullius I'm willing to bet if you booked your order and emailed the store a week before to say you really wanted the product for your order, they'd put it to one side for you as Waitrose customer service is usually second to none.

For now just chuck a few bits and bobs in your trolley to get to £50 and check out and then amend your order closer to the time.

Thank you for this thread! There were only 3slots left for my area!

Have just booked a slot on the 23rd-2 bottles of pink bubbles so far!

Feel very organised

ilovemydogandMrObama · 23/09/2012 20:36

thank you! When will they debit the card?

cece · 23/09/2012 20:46

Thank you - got one for the 23rd.

BellaVita · 23/09/2012 21:03

Ilove, when the pick your shopping.

cornzy · 24/09/2012 00:17

Got mine as well. It's a sunday so it will be perfect - hate the supermarket on Sunday!

LadySybildeChocolate · 24/09/2012 00:24

I just hate the supermarket. Grin

cornzy · 24/09/2012 00:27

Grin I don't mind when it's quiet and I feel the wine/sugar/chocolate urge!

NulliusInBlurba · 24/09/2012 10:32

Hi Dame Enids - thanks for the tip. I didn't realise it's possible to amend the order. I'm assuming that because we want to pick up the order ourselves there will be less rush to get slots close to Christmas. I don't know - the last time I did online shopping was a decade ago, not in the UK, and it was less than satisfactory, so I'm looking forward to seeing how Waitrose has improved the service.

I still can't find the turkeys and Christmas puds on the website, though, even when I go via one specific store.

halcyondays · 24/09/2012 10:36

What, already?Shock
When do Tesco do theirs, think it must be much closer to Christas?

DameEnidsOrange · 24/09/2012 10:48

Waitrose slots can be booked 12 weeks in advance, Sainsburys and Tesco usually 3 weeks before IIRC

Thanks for tip.

No availability on the 23rd but that might be just my store?

Have booked 22nd which is fine as it means we can still get some stuff if anything is missing.

It feels very wrong somehow!

ELR · 24/09/2012 11:29

Just booked mine for 23rd although last year ended up with about 6 items as loads was missing luckily it was just wine, champers and nice chocs ect. I wouldn't be relying on them totally for my Christmas lunch items, I also book an ocado one and Abel and cole to be sure!

DameEnidsOrange · 24/09/2012 11:39

Nullius, I've just checked and Christmas items aren't available for me either, but I'm sure their website will be plastered in advertising once the stock is in.
