Do you still buy toys (if asked for) that you think arent age appropriate?

Bear with me that title didnt make alot of sense, if your dc or other children in the family ask for something that you dont think really suits their age would you still buy it. Im not talking an 18 game for a 12 year old,
DC has asked for certain things from adverts or the argos that are aimed at young children ( dolls, play house stuff ect) but i think at 10 shes not going to bother with them and its just because the advert makes it look cooler than it actually is. Is it mean to not buy them as itll be a waste of money or should we buy as thats what shes asked for.

Tough one, I buy my eldest (4) toys that are a bit young for him, but I think there is a diffrence between that and buying for a 10yr old. I would probably go with not buying them, mainly because of the cost implications e.g. you could spend £100 on stuff she will play with for 2-3months, or you could spend £100 on One Direction tickets (or whatever she really likes) that would be a lovely day out and memory for her.

Disclaimer.....I may be way out with the tickets thing. I have no idea what 10year old girls want/do/play with, or even if this is just as age inappropriate but the other way round (present to mature for her) IYSWIM?

Yeah it is, thats what i was thinking, she can play with younger children aimed presents as her brothers get lego playsets ect. I have been looking for gift ideas for her but its an awkward age where i think is this too babyish, is this too grown up ect.

The most recent was asking for playhouse stuff, kitchen ect and i just think it will be a huge waste of money, her friends from school that come over wouldnt entertain the idea although her little brothers might!

Do you know what her friends are into? IME that has the biggest impact on what they want!!

I think if it's not too expensive, then go for it.

I liked toys that were too young for me, but wasn't bought them because of my age, and some I still wish I'd had now (okay, some I can give DD to live vicariously through her!)
