Which is mainly good, but doesn't help for Christmas presents. Often they will only ask FC for a teddy etc. They also can't think of any bigger presents for us to buy anyway. They all love craft but our house is drowning in googly eyes and feathers. Beyond that ds (who will be 3 by then) has enough hand me down toys to start his own ebay shop. All he really likes doing is either build train track or gather every bit of bedding and random clothing into a giant art attack.

Dd1(will be nearly 8) + dd2(will be nearly 6) have enough books to set up a library to attach to their craft shop and bakery. And they are at school most of the time. They have a minor interest in lego, but Sylvanian families and playmobile are languishing in the bottom off the toy box. They tend to either make up their own imaginary games or do craft. I really don't know what to get for them, other than maybe a cleaner!

Tough one, I'm gathering from your lack of inclusion that you are not so keen on video games. How about something for the garden, a trampoline, or wee house thing?

Some kind of vouchers or membership, like a merlin family pass or whatever floats their boats?

Mine quite like things for their rooms too, like art work (of things that they are into) lava lamps, bean bags.

I have given up on playmobil, it's expensive and the bits just end up lost after about 5.3 milliseconds.

The imaginext range is pretty good for your 3yo, we have the firestation and spaceship set, nice and robust, get played with pretty often too.

What about about dressing up stuff? I think I read in a thread that a mum put together a big dressing up box with various things for her dc to share. You could put in loads of outfits with bags/shoes/hats etc.

Is your ds too old for happy land?

We do have a wii, but they don't play on it much, and we have a small playhouse, they would love a trampoline but there is no room in the garden (we have a little one, but not for a big, enclosed one). We don't have much room for stuff. They share a room and not loads of space, but they might like some frames for them to fill with their own art. We have quite a bit of dressing up stuff which I have gathered from charity shops etc. I have made ds some dinosaur tails for his birthday, but might be able to do something for Christmas too. This year we joined English Heritage, I don't think the younger ones would see that sort of thing as a present though.

The oldest has never had more than 2 things on a christmas list, and dd2 usually copies dd1. When asked what she wants she usually says 'oh I'm sure anything you get me will be great.' She sits analysing the marketing strategies on adverts, saying 'oh they are just doing that to make children want to get their parents to buy it but they probably will want something else soon, just like everyone used to like Moshi Monsters, well I didn't but lots of children in my class'. She has an old mind in a young body. They do love opening things though! With dd1 she will say that she loves a present, even if she hates it. I just don't want to fill the house with tat for the sake of it.

I have thought of something for dd2, she covets her sister's password overpriced inconsistent electronic journal which I got half price last year, I might see if I can find that. Ds will be happy with anything, just need to crack dd1. She still says she believes in FC so I do want it to be special for her, the magic will all to soon dissipate.

Clothes that you may not have bought normally make great pressies.

A book of iou vouchers - home made - to cash in for a game, a special tea etc.
Games all the family can play

3duracellbunnies · 16/09/2012 08:06

NatashaBee you could have them at the end of a holiday when they are squabling, or ds and dd2 are always available to hire at 6:30am, and likewise dd1 anytime between 8 and 10:30pm!

Clothes might be a good idea, they do need new PJ and maybe some Brownie stuff for dd1. The list is getting longer!

Have no idea, what about decorating bedroom for older ones?? Also get playmobil on eBay if not played with, my DSS sold for quite a bit in the end and I was glad to get rid, to fund next Xmas presents.
For dd1 what about iPod touch??

ratbagcatbag · 16/09/2012 08:21

Haha my DSS's playmobil sold, not DSS

I have one child like yours, and another who wants everything in the toy section of the Argos book. They both drive me mad when it comes to trying to buy gifts.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 16/09/2012 08:24

I would get homeware and clothes you wouldn't normally, new character bedding, singing toothbrushes?

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 16/09/2012 08:24

dd1 ( nearly 6) is similar
theatre tickets and cinema vouchers have gone down well in the past. we stuck the cinema vouchers to some popcorn and wrapped the lot to make t look more presenty.
