I saw the thread about teenage DD and thought "What the Dickens will I get for DS"?

(!) yo DD a much easier prospect Grin )

He has an X-Box (and a Wii but he gave that to his sister)
A phone, a camera, a watch.

He's meh about clothes. So no point taking him to Hollister.

He does karate and rugby, not football.

I've pre-ordered 2 games for his X-Box.(Early birthday)

He usually has a single, more expensive pesent for his birthday. My parents send him money (he's a saver which is good)

He gets his stocking gifts (small, fun or useful about £1-£3 each)

I was going to wrap a new £50 note in a Christmas box- maybe a box in a box in a boxGrin like Russian Dolls. Though he wouldn't spend it, he'd take it out and stroke it (weird child)

TIA

Ds1 is 12, his main present will be an iPod touch.

Plus the usual smellies, chocs, pjs, clothes etc.

Mine is same age and desperate for lego mindstorm.

My DS is 13 tomorrow (aww) and he's getting a new phone for his birthday, an electric toothbrush plus other stuff.

For Christmas, he's getting an Android tablet, a cool new watch plus other bits.

Ds2 is 13 in Oct. He's asked for money so he can buy a laptop. He's selling his Xbox on eBay to add to laptop fund. No idea what to get him for Christmas!

lilolilmanchester · 12/09/2012 00:59

would the £50 be the present? Or £50 plus other stuff on top (IMO £50 is way enough but I have friends who spend hundreds, and one up to £1000 per DC at Christmas - so just checking.... )

Either way, you could work on that idea.. end result being a note of whatever is left over and then wrap smaller-but-bigger-than-stocking filler presents inbetween the boxes? Have a few ideas on that but wanted to check first.

My parents give him £50 for his birthday and £50 for his Christmas. He's one of these children who loves money and delights in having a bank account and/or money in his jar Grin

He spends maybe half.
I think the £50 note would be a novelty for him (his money from G/P is sent to me and I transfer it).

He'll get some other presents, we probably spent £100 on each. (The Wii and X-Box was a third DS ,a third DD and a third from DH and I ) If he spends his money, he appreciates it more.

Novelty not flippantly- it's a flipping load of money. But he would be in awe of a £50 note, I don't think he's ever seen one and they are very pretty.
(I saw some briefly when I got money out for building supplies- sigh)

nice wallet from a good shop

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/09/2012 12:27

What's a trendy watch for a young teen?

(He's got 2 wallets already, one school, one for personal use).

He'll wear the Lynx stuff .

He's a nightmare to buy for Grin

We've just booked a 30 minute "Young Drivers" driving lesson for DS - not for his birthday/Christmas though.

It was meant to be for last year but I couldn't get a date till Feb and by that time I forgot to book one Blush

If he enjoys it he could maybe do this for his birthday day out.

IIRC the minimum age is 11yo and there's a minimum height (I think 150cm)

Ds1 has just got a new bike as an early 13th present (needed it to cycle to school). He really wanted drop handle bars.

He has a baby g-shock watch which has survived a couple of years (no idea if trendy but suits young boys battering)

Mine all love molten brown shower gel - makes them smell much better than lynx!

No present suggestions, but when my dad used to give us money for Xmas, he'd put it in a cardboard toilet roll middle and wrap it like a cracker, I always thought it was a cute idea Smile
