I'm after a Christmas Organiser book that breaks down things to do on a day by day on the countdown to Christmas. Does such a thing exist? Or do any lurvely mn's have their own list that they would like to share? I'd like to be organised this year so I actually have the time to make all those biscuits I wanted to make last year Blush

OK, I have lovely book identified, thanks BlackberryIce. Can anybody share their to-do list to go inside it? Any suggestions really welcome.

Seriously?

I do a FLYlady style Xmas planner...

Normal A4 folder with dividers, print out of month to view at the start for each of sept, oct, nov and dec. Then whole subsections of lists behind (which I sometimes manage to follow Wink).

There was a thread aaaaages ago by jas who posted the whole FLYlady Xmas weekly countdown which keeps me on the straight and narrow! It's just one or two little bits each week which keeps it all quite manageable! Smile

I've used Flylady for the past few years along with an organised mum planner. The missions ( one each day) start in November so as to include Thanksgiving but you can easily adapt them

Llareggub · 09/09/2012 09:18

Just keep it simple:

Buy presents
Chocs
Turkey
Decorate tree
Get drunk
Argue with relatives
Snooze

RevoltingChildren · 09/09/2012 10:14

These are November's missions. I'll post December when I get chance.

  1. Clean & fling. Go around the house with a bin bag & throw away any obvious rubbish whilst doing your weekly clean (dust & Hoover)
  2. Start a Holiday Planner. Note down some of the basic things you need for Christmas
  3. Gather up any cards, wrapping paper etc from last year & put them in one place ready for when you need them.
  4. Go shopping for stamps, sticky tape, marker pens etc. Put them with your cards & paper.
  5. Start to make a budget for gifts, food, travel, cards & paper etc. put in your planner.
  6. Plan what decorations you want to use in each room in your planner
  7. Start planning how you will spend Christmas eg. Travel plans if visiting relations or guest lists & preparations for visitors. Include any events/activities you want to do eg school/church fayre
  8. Make a note in your planner if everyone's clothes size in your immediate family in case people ask you
  9. Review your lists & start to buy in supplies. Include baking ingredients, decorations, light bulbs, dry cleaning.
10. Review your budget, plan when you can do your shopping 11. Clean & fling. Throw junk mail & any odds & ends lying around whilst doing your weekly dust & Hoover. 12. Plan how you are spending Christmas. Work on menus & meal plans for the Christmas period & make a shopping list 13. Do any Internet & mail order gift shopping 14. Review shopping list & see if there is anything you can buy now. Include household supplies eg toilet paper, kitchen towel, window cleaner, dry cleaning, bed linen. 15. Review your budget 16. Clean & fling. Find 27 items of rubbish/clutter to throw out 17. Add to your meal plans. Do you need special table linen & decorations. Schedule time to make sure linen & crockery/cutlery is cleaned & serving dishes are ready 18. Go through children's toy box & get rid of broken toys or things with lost pieces. Throw old catalogues & magazines. 19. Check your shopping list & buy all non perishable items eg canned, boxed & paper goods 20. Check your gift list. Make sure you haven't forgotten anyone 21. Clean & fling - be ruthless 22. Review gift list. Does anything need to be posted? Order anything you need from the Internet. 23. Buy stamps, mailing boxes, paper etc. anything you need for cards & presents which need to be posted. Check meal plans & start buying what you can. 25. Gather all your bills together ready to pay along with receipts & bank statements. 26. Spend 10 mins in each room in the house. Swish & swipe toilets, sinks & showers. Dust & Hoover. 27& 28 are getting ready for Thanksgiving 29. Do your wrapping 30. Check your budget. Try & buy online if possible

Mmm that list looks like it should have October on the top of it to me!

BlackberryIce · 10/09/2012 17:23

I have just pre ordered one!

everydayaschoolday · 11/09/2012 01:23

As advised on this thread I checked out Fly Lady and found this on 'Cruising Through the holidays'. A good overview of organising everything that needs to be done.

www.flylady.net/i/pdf/hol_coj.pdf

Then, I think I'll break it down by following the Christmas daily missions (which aren't posted yet for this year on Flylady but I expect are the same as last year) as advised by RevoltingChildren. Like smellylittleorange I'll probably start them in Oct as well!!

Now I'll go and hide my OCD shame Blush Grin
