Hi fellow Christmas lovers :)

We are spending Christmas in Australia this year with friends and having looked on Australia's toys r us website I think we'll take all ds's presents with us as toys are more expensive in Australia. Our friends have a 3 year old too so we don't want to leave his presents here as it would be confusing for the kids.

Anyone got any ideas for small light presents for a ( will be) 3.7 year old. Luckily he loves small fiddly things like Lego, playmobil etc but I'd love to hear any more original ideas :)

What about a portable DVD player? Should help with the flight back to.

Lego mini figures, summer t shirts to wear whilst there, activity books, beach ball if you're going to the coast, children's card game, books, children's camera for holiday snaps.

Have a great trip!

We got this travel aquadraw for our 3 year old one year, and they still use it, it's the kind of thing you probably already have though:

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :) he does have that aqua draw actually obiwan! But he does like those printed ones that you colour over too so some more of them might be good :) he does have an I pod touch ( i know, i know) to watch films on even though the screen is small, it doesn't seem to bother him.

Ooh and I like the idea of a beach ball or even a lilo type thing as if we blow it up, it'll make his pile look bigger lol

its the perfect age for this IMO as 3-4YOs LOVE small tat Grin

magazines with toys attatched are light and one of DS's favourite things, those little monster trucks, little dinosaurs etc

you could leave one or two bigger presents here - as long as he has plenty to open on Christmas Day. He's young enough to just enjoy opening things . Take things which will entertain him while on holiday - and they don't have to be expensive. Colouring books and new crayons; sticker books; happy families//mini jigsaw

When in your trip does Christmas fall? If fairly early on or mid-way, you could take wrap up PJs/T-shirt/cap etc that you would be taking anyway. Character toothpaste/facecloth

what about one of those pop up tents with a tunnel attached? they fold away small, are light yet have the wow factor when up?

olibeansmummy · 09/09/2012 16:21

Ooh yes a pop up tent is a good idea :)

Christmas is about smack bang in the middle of our holiday, but we could wrap up some of his new clothes/ swimming suits etc.

Tbh I could quite happily blow the whole budget on Lego lol!
