Stuff maybe the kids could help with (8 and 4), anyone?

I made Peppermint Kisses last year, put them in a little jar with some xmas paper covering the lid - nice and easy gift

There is a home made Christmas thread on here that has brilliant ideas on already, and will only get more on as we get closer to Christmas!

I'm going to make some Christmas pud vodka, rhubarb and ginger vodka and some cookie mix in a jar. All sound easy enough to do, and only require a small amount of shopping (you will need some glass kilner jars and bottles - I've bought some from ebay and will pop to Ikea for the jars).

Do any of you sew/knit or any other craft? I can't so haven't paid much attention to those ideas, but there are good suggestions for gifts if you have the skills!

There are also ideas for home made beauty treatments like lip balm and body scrub.

My mother has actually asked for a knitted hot water bottle cover Grin so I will be making one of those. Should cost less than £10.

I am doing some (semi-ironic) barrells of "home-made domesticity" including hm beeswax polish, scented candles, tea towels etc.

Oh I just remembered. I am making furoshiki to cover all my presents out of old fat quarters that won't go with anything. Just sew them together on their own or use nice fabric and bias tape which is cheap. I'm using it to wrap up a sushi making kit I pulled together for a friend for £11 at waitrose and a new home kit for my sister. Make it look v smart on a budget. You could use them on a book DVD bottle of wine etc and it would look v thoughtful!

Reindeer poop (chocolate covered raisins) are a great hit with kiddies (there are a few different poems online to use).

Snowman soup (hot choc mix, candy cane as stirrer, few mini marshmallows too) is another one that you can also get nice poems and even printable bag toppers on the net.

Last year, I had DD (5), neighour (4) and other neighbour (8) helping me with a production line of Reindeer poops for DD's birthday treat for her class (all 27 of them - her birthday is 26th Dec, so we need something seasonal). First we measured exact amounts into small cello bags, then we folded over the bag tops and closed with sellotape, then we put on a topper using double sided tape that I had printed from the net with the poem on it. Worked great! And entertained the 3 girls on a wet Dec afternoon for an hour. I got the biggest bags of choc raisins I could get in healthfood shop, so not that expensive - I put a nice handful in each bag and only weighed to make sure they were even and I had enough to make it all around the class.

You could do a production line of Snowman soups too - the choc mix and candy cane are easily handled, counting out exactly 3/4 marshmallows for each is not overly taxing for littluns, and then you could control the folding and sealing if you need to.
