I have been looking for one with little drawers.

Any recommendations?

Lakeland Limited have a Bethlehem Stable Advent Wooden calender with little doors but it's an eyewatering £59.99 Shock .But it does have 11 five star reviews.

I bought one many years ago on QVC - it has a little tree that you place on a musical stand (it's resin, painted) with little hooks. The advent part has 2 doors (handpainted) that open up to 24 doors.

TBH I cannot remember how much I paid for it (about £30 or so) but we've had it for about 8 years. I put chocolate coins in - this year I'm going to put a £1 for each of my DC on a Saturday (nice new shiney coins) .Idea stolen from MN.

Have a look ay qvcuk.com on the 25th Sept/Oct/Nov -they do special preChristmas days. You might find what you want.

£59.99 Shock

I was thinking no more than £30 .

Will keep a eye on QVC, thankyou.

So stealing the £1 idea!

Fortnum and mason have a few that are just lovely, but they have the not so lovely price of eighty quid! Have a look on amazon, they probably have more reasonable prices.

BonkeyMollocks · 01/09/2012 21:46

£80?

Iv'e had a quick browse through Amazon, can't really find anything that catches my eye.

This has probably been done before, but I'm toying with the idea of getting one of those 12 drawer chests from IKEA, and painting it festively (is that a word?)

They're £20. But I would need to cut out a handle on the other side of each drawer so they can be turned round and refilled once the first 12 days are up. I'm not sure it's worth it.

I was also thinking of filling each drawer with some sort of instruction/activity to build up to Christmas - go to a Carol service, decorate the tree, make a gingerbread house etc.

LadySybildeChocolate · 01/09/2012 21:54

John Lewis usually have some lurvely ones.

AutumnWitch · 01/09/2012 21:59

I got ours from the local garden centre which also sells loads of christmas decorations. They were about £20 each - a train with drawers and a pile of presents with little doors. Something like this ?

I can't vouch for quality as I don't have one from Studio Cards, but these seem really well priced. They're probably not as robust as John Lewis/Lakeland/F&M etc but might be worth a look depending on your budget. I like the penguin and igloo one!

Everyday, they look great, especially the price! To be fair the thing s only going to be used for 1 month a year, they don't need to be too sturdy

WhatWouldVegansDo · 02/09/2012 14:19

Festive train.

oreocrumbs · 02/09/2012 14:24

Amazon.

We have this one and it is lovely. Think I paid over £40 for it last year so it has come down in price. It has the drawers to put a treat in, and also little wooden decorations in each drawer to hang on the tree in the middle. Its a lovely thing.

BiscuitNibbler · 02/09/2012 17:48

The Amazon one is actually a Costco one, so if you have a card / know someone with a card you could get it cheaper than that. I bought this year's version for DD, which is basically the same but has Santa instead of a snowman at the top.

oreocrumbs · 02/09/2012 20:02

Gah, I have a costco card! Oh well, I'll know for next time.

mummymccar · 02/09/2012 20:20

I just bought this one from eBay.

WhatWouldVegansDo · 13/09/2012 21:56

Ok, this is cardboard, but from the photos, it looks really sturdy, and, IMHO, lovely: www.dotcomgiftshop.com/50s-christmas-house-advent-calendar?ll=menulink&ctid=5631&pos=0. £19 bargain!

attheendoftheday · 13/09/2012 23:26

It's not wooden, but I've just got [http://www.amazon.co.uk/East-India-Bucket-Advent-Calendar/dp/B002RAGMDK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347575130&sr=8-1 this] one for dd. I hoped that it would give me a little more space for her little presents, because they can stick out of the top, than drawers would allow. This year I'll be putting in a little plastic animal figure for each day (because I found a job lot in a charity shop and dd's too small to know they're second hand).

Messed up my link.

Here.
