Inspired by the 5 year old thread, I'd love some suggestions as to what we can buy our DD for Christmas this year?

She'll be turning 2 in October (and getting an easel and slide :) ) but absolutely stumped about Christmas and so over excited!!

:)

Hi, when DS1 was 2 we got him, mr potatoe head, happy land, duplo blocks, Puzzles, books, a ride on, and his fav was a craft box with lots of crafty items in x

BeaWheesht · 01/09/2012 20:28

dd is 2 in September.

For her birthday / Xmas she is getting a balance bike, a bouncy horse like this, happyland dino set, some stuff for her kitchen, a WOW rocket like this, a baby annabell doll and wooden cot and highchair like this

WhatWouldVegansDo · 01/09/2012 21:20

Our son turns two in October too. We are getting him a balance bike for his birthday.

Haven't decided on his main Christmas gift yet, thinking about:
A wooden playhouse, e.g. www.amazon.co.uk/Redwood-Lodge-Playhouse-individual-Playhouses/dp/B005QZSSXA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1346530572&sr=8-2
or
A wigwam, e.g. www.amazon.co.uk/Garden-Games-Wigwam-Play-Tent/dp/B000GRUW3M/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1346530572&sr=8-9.

Mini micro scooter?

chocolatetester1 · 01/09/2012 21:21

I intend to go down the balance bike route too.

nancy75 · 01/09/2012 21:28

I would suggest happy land stuff, if she gets it this Xmas she will get a few years use out of it. Scooter or trikes are always popular, dd is older now but other things she liked at about that age were the early learning keyboard and also a Wendy house, but you need a lot of room for it!

daisydee43 · 01/09/2012 21:31

The train set I bought 2yr old niece last year was very successful - was a traditional looking one with track and battery operated

StellaNova · 01/09/2012 21:31

Micro scooter for Xmas when DS1 was 2 and 2 months was BEST BUY EVER. It has gone through new wheels and new handles and is still going strong as we near his fifth birthday.

Brio wooden train set has also been highly popular.

DS2 got a trampoline and sandpit for 2nd birthday. (Seperate, not some kind of combined sanaline or trampapit, that would be weird).

We've bought the Fisher Price Little People Disney Princess Palace, it's currently on offer on Amazon for £39.99. Have older DS so surprised I've become a bit girlie! It's lovely though. Dunno how to do the hyperlink thing sorry!!!

chocolateistheenemy · 01/09/2012 21:33

Yeah agree with Stella re Mini Micro and Brio - esp MM, it's still DS's fave toy after 2yrs.

Smile29 · 01/09/2012 21:39

DD is 2 in November, getting her a toy kitchen. she adores ours and is always trying to get in the cupboards.

curiousgeorgie · 01/09/2012 21:47

Putting lots of things in my amazon basket! Great cake duplo, she'll love that!

Also love the little people princess palace, which will be great as we're taking her to Disneyland in December, but the little people for it are £50 which seems crazy at £10 more than the palace Shock

Another in agreement re MicroScooter and Brio Trains set - DS has had these for a few months and they are his favourites to play with. MicroScooter says from age three, but I think this is just to cover themselves. DS is happily competent on his age 22mo.

Murtette · 02/09/2012 18:54

DD is 12 months older than your DD. For Xmas last year she got the ELC toy kitchen which she has had so much use from. It gets played with every day. It was great as then when other people asked for present suggestions I came up with kitchen related things - play food, kettle, toaster etc. She also got the Fisher Price Little People Doll's House which was played with every day until a couple of months ago. I now think she would have got more use from it if it had been her birthday present. Finally, she had some dolls, clothes for them & a cot and I have subsequently added a (very cheap) cot & pushchair. These will played with a bit for the first few months but are now her favourite toy & she can spend ages looking after them since I had DC2 3 months ago.

Other things she still plays with a lot (and which I think were 2nd birthday presents) are Happyland bus, Fisher Price little people playground, Mr Potato head, Peppa characters & vehicles, jigsaws.

BeaWheesht · 02/09/2012 18:56

Just seen this train table set which I would buy if we had more room.

Pmoz · 02/09/2012 19:57

I'm thinking of getting my 2 year old baking set, apron etc...she loves helping me in the kitchen...it will also come in handy on those rainy days !!!

ScottishBritishMNer · 02/09/2012 22:20

Another vote for mini micro scooter and happyland stuff. Play kitchens and wooden train sets also fab.

ZombieBelle · 06/09/2012 18:58

re: the fisher price little people disney princess stuff. You can get it in ToysRUs, i havent seen it on the website but I got DD (22 months at xmas) the ariel seahorse carriage and a twin pack of princesses for her stocking. the 2 princesses were £6.99 which would be a lot cheaper than going for that pack on amazon! the carriage was around £25 and plays little mermaid music.

DD loves them, so do i. She already has the belle and beast figures, they are so chubby and cute. much prefer them over the stick figure princesses.

I have gone a bit girlie with her, though i'm redeemed as her main present is a plushy dalek Grin

ZombieBelle · 06/09/2012 18:59

I also got her a big my little pony that goes in the bath, i think it has a soft body? It was in the toysrus sale for £9.99

Heartbeep · 06/09/2012 19:11

DD was 2.5 last year & we got her a toy kitchen. It's been played with a lot this last year. We also made her a train table, bought a bit of MDF from B&Q & a couple of wooden train sets & a nice tunnel, she loves it & it cost very little to make. We used lots of bright green & blue paints, sample pots from B&Q & painted a road, river etc, it's played with by every child that visits.

jester68 · 07/09/2012 11:51

Our youngest is 2.

For Christmas we are getting her:

Playmobil 123 farm
Wooden blocks
Chunky crayons and paper
DVDs- such as baby Jake ,Peppa pig, Ben and Holly
Also going to get her a chunky play tea set which also comes with some food etc

When my eldest was about 2 we got her the ELC kitchen which was a great hit and still used to this day. Then had other family get her things to go with it like kettle, toaster, microwave etc
