What have you planned so far? We are doing salt dough decorations and gift tags this year.

If you're hand making things why not stock up on some vintage Christmas cards? Check out eBay, Folksy and Etsy. I went through a craft phase and got some excellent vintage cards from the 50s etc. I know that's not the right era but it's probably better than anything you'd get in the shops!

Actually if you search on Etsy for 'vintage Christmas' you'll prob get loads of goodies.

will be making the cards myself. also making soaps, doing a wicker basket full of goodies for my mum, i want to string popcorn on the tree, and candy canes, make sweets, make garlands of gingerbread men made out of clay etc. living room will be painted cream before christmas, but quite a modern house so will be difficult. have found some lovely fir and pine trees and a holly bush locally for greenery.

ha, well last september my sister, brother and myself were discussing christmas. (christmas day is always at my house for the 3 of us, parents spend the day together) and they suggested dr who (both big fans as are my dc's) fair enough says i, we will have a dr who themed christmas. complete with blue and silver decorations, tardis christmas cake, and tardis and dalek gingerbread cookies. lots of dr who themed presents, accessories for ourselves etc. was great fun, but far, far too much work.

I gather that the Victorians used to wrap their gifts in cloth, with ribbons to tie them. You could hem some bits of fabric or make little cloth bags. Can be used again and again. If you wanted Christmassy themed fabric, you could get some cheap flat sheets to cut up and use fabric paint to stencil designs. A whole or half sheet could be used for a large item such as a bike.

oooh, buy some victorian scraps and use pritt stick to glue them into a book. No real point, but I used to spend hours with scraps when I was younger.

ie, this kind of thing www.bluebellgirls.co.uk/mamelok-scraps/christmas/angels-scraps/cat_357.html
