Why do you like NYE?

I've never liked NYE. I don't like feeling forced to have fun, when the clock strikes 12 I don't want to kiss or hug anyone. I love Christmas and NYE is the end of the Christmas and a reminder that the cold dreary days of January and February are upon us.

Lots of people love New Year, my mum is 74 and still enjoys a big night out.

Why do you love New Year? What am I missing out on?

Everything about it is just irritating....

I hate Jan/Feb ... it better not snow
I hate donging clocks
I hate fireworks that are not on Nov 5th
I hate hugging/kissing
I hate Jules Holland
I hate bagpipes
I hate people saying "Out with the old and In with the new".....oh shut up
I hate Aulds lang syne
I hate parties

Hmmm I'm in a good mood then !

I like it, don't like going out on new years eve but like the whole idea of a new year to plan for and look forward to :-)

Great so nobody really likes it then Grin

Interesting RRR about liking the fresh start aspect. I feel like that at the start of the new academic year in September which also coincides with my birthday and in April when the new tax year starts. Nothing really changes for me in January.

I like the fact that there is another bank holiday, so the Christmas festivities can continue for a bit longer, with only a few extra days holiday. I think it is more of a younger person's holiday, my days of freezing by the thames are certainly over for the time being, but it is a good excuse for a party.

We have just had a time zone party (just us and the children), we watched sydney fireworks and had bbq lunch for australia passing into 2012, curry when midnight in Delhi, russian dancing and party games for Moscow, more dancing and dd1 talking about africa(last term's topic) for Nairobi, wii olympics, pitta bread and olives for athens, and now they have begged to go to bed, to wake refreshed for american breakfast! It was really nice having a party just for us, as usually have to cater for guests etc.

I find jan/feb busy as I have loads of work, plus both girls have birthdays in feb, so a bit hectic. By the time I emerge from the mayhem it will be spring and I still won't have got used to writing 2012!

My boys would love the timezone party! Smile
