I think I may have discovered the most difficult thing to wrap

a slinky! I tried to keep it in its "upright" position and roll it, but as soon as I applied the tiniest amount of pressure it went all slanty. Plus once you do have the circle bit wrapped, what do you do with the ends? I just stuffed them in, whcih is OK for my two little ones but an older child may be more discerning.

I'm shit not very good at wrapping and have a guitar hero guitar to wrap tomorrow, bought second-hand so no box. I share your pain.

OnSantasLap · 24/12/2011 01:01

Could you stuff it with something? Some spare wrapping paper?

Then you can wrap it with it going out of shape?

My DBro wrapped a rocking horse up for DD last year. Proper rocking horse shaped and everything. She was thrilled.
Can confirm Slinkys are indeed bugger to wrap.

StealthPolarBear · 24/12/2011 01:07

That was a good idea :o Too late though, slinky wrapped in a fashion Xmas Grin
Lol at the rocking horse, that must have looked fantastic! Tomrorow I will be wrapping an iron man helmet (in box so fine) and a bike!
Luckily in this house FC is dreadful at wrapping, literally wraps like a 5 year old would. It's fine, they barely notice and there are loads of corners to start the unwrapping!

Was going to say tissue paper - covers all sins.

DH & I were wrapping stocking presents tonight & I have to say, he has no idea how to wrap a present to make it look exciting.

He can make them look very sellotapey though.

marmiteandjam · 24/12/2011 09:42

A football was quite hard plus I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be a lot of mystery surrounding what it is, in fact I'm not sure why I even bothered Xmas Grin

I gave up last year trying to wrap the goldfish bowl and the new gold fish, so the Fat Man left a bow in under the tree wish fishing line attached which led DS to the laundry to bowl with bow

Trills · 24/12/2011 09:51

I was going to say tape it together so it stays in one shape while you wrap it.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 24/12/2011 09:54

Net bag with bath toys in

We gave friends a bird table for their back garden about 5 yrs ago. That TRULY was a bugger to wrap. Fortunately, the post and the top weren't attached yet, but still, wrapping the top bit was mental. I thought it was funny, DH not so much. Oops

lljkk · 24/12/2011 10:23

I can trump all that, have to wrap an unboxed balance bike. I think I'll bag it first & tie it up, wrap over all that. You can secure a slinky with rubber bands (should be in stocking, anyway).

DD's rocking horse (again, no box) was a swine a few years ago, too.

BertieBotts · 24/12/2011 10:26

WCM I have a hilarious image now of a little wrapped-up goldfish swimming bemusedly around the bowl and bumping into the sides as it can't see Grin Poor fish!

StealthPolarBear · 24/12/2011 10:26

So do I - we got one for DD! DIdn't think it would be that bad so not looking forward to it now.
Slinky was in the stocking, I do like to wrap their stocking stuff too :o
