Whats your budget?

Slowcooker? Wii? Nice bedding set or a good goose down duvet? Vouchers for them to chose something themselves?

iheartdusty · 23/12/2011 18:08

wine
beer
cheese

hellhasnofury · 23/12/2011 18:09

I'm in the same position with my sister. I'm opting out and giving her an Amazon voucher.

Hulababy · 23/12/2011 18:10

Budget?

Any shared interests or hobbies?

Does it need to be a joint gift?

What abouyt theatre or cinema vouchers maybe?

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 18:10

How old is DS1?

How about trying to book panto tickets?

FrigidHare · 23/12/2011 18:26

They are both early mid 20's. No not panto sorts. I suppose it doesn't have to be a joint pressie, but then that would mean I'd have to go out and get something for her too. I was going to buy one of those printy photo things but then lost the will to live and left the shop! They have a laptop but no printer. I did think about a slow cooker. I suggested to a very disinterested dp that I bought a nice bathroom set, from M&S complete with shower curtain, bath mat and matching hand towels but that was poo-pooed.

I bought a green and black's hamper for friends in their early 20s a couple of years ago - including a green and black's cookbook and apron. I know they have used it well - I can see it when we go round. Where do you live? Heal's do nice coupley sort of presents.

OliviaSeaBornInAMangerMumsnet · 23/12/2011 18:33

Someone was talking about afternoon tea vouchers?

SandStorm · 23/12/2011 18:35

How about a digital photo frame?

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 18:36

Booze.

zipzap · 23/12/2011 18:59

Buy a small toy (car, Lego man and woman, tub of plasticine, silly game they could play etc) that he would enjoyed 20 years ago and say that you're a bit behind with your presents and he never did get xxx when he wanted it or that he was much easier to buy for 20 years ago, you're not sure what they want now and so this is a token present along with a promise of a present when they know what they want.

FrigidHare · 23/12/2011 18:59

East Sussex/Kent! Is there a Heal's? They have a laptop so digi frame would not be good I don't think. They love cooking but I THINK they already have things like a tagine, they have every spice you can imagine, wok, deep fryer etc. I've seen a nice cd storage thing in homebase but it's too much by about £30...grrr

vouchers towards a meal at their favourite restaurant? lots of places are doing them now.

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 19:07

What is your budget?

FrigidHare · 23/12/2011 19:11

about £60 I think. Have just thought of perhaps a trug containing gardening tools as this it their first house with a garden, and if money allows some sort of buddah for the garden or something? Does that sound naff?

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 19:12

How about a chiminea?

FrigidHare · 23/12/2011 19:13

oooh yes! A chiminea might be really good. Thank you.

SandStorm · 23/12/2011 19:16

We got a trug from here as a wedding present with our names and the date of the wedding burned on the sides. It'll be too late for delivery but it's local to you (as I suspect you're quite near me, also East Sussex/Kent borders).

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 19:19

:)

FrigidHare · 23/12/2011 19:20

Yes, I know where that is, near Windmill Hill. I think most of the garden centres do them too. Now as for chimineas, terractotta or cast iron?

OP posts:
blackteaplease · 23/12/2011 19:25

cast iron, the terracota ones are prone to frost.

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 23/12/2011 19:26

iron.

FontSnob · 23/12/2011 19:33

Chimnea is a fab idea. You're not my mother-in-law by any glorious chance?
