Panic - what to wrap my hampers in?

Have got foodie bits and pieces for my parents for Christmas, and was planning on putting them in nice baskets or something so they are like mini hampers. Trouble is, I haven't managed to find anything basket-like cheaply, and now I've left it too late as I can't go anywhere else shopping-wise except supermarket (we live rurally) before Christmas. Has anyone got any ideas of how to wrap the bits so they look festive? They won't fit in shoeboxes or anything. There must be some creative people out there?

What about the hessian-type shopping bags? Tesco have some Orla Kiely ones which are lovely...they might have some with a festive theme too.

Do you have any larger boxes of any kind? You could just wrap the outside of these in chrismassy wrapping paper. Then get some tissue paper, fluff it up a bit and put it in the box then put the nice foodie things on that.

For school hampers we got boxes from supermarket and decorated them in different themes. Am sure that a banana box, some tasteful wrapping paper, if possible cellophane, a bow and maybe tinsel will have the desired effect, and cheaper too!

Hessian bags (or Christmas gift bags) from supermarket sounds good. Use plenty of tissue paper so it's a bit of a lucky dip while they're seeing what they've got.

Alternatively, if you have cellophane, place all items on thick cardboard/cake board (also prob in supermarket) and cover with cellophane. Use double sided tape to hold items in place on board.

Or trays, if the supermarket has any? Nice tea trays could be a fun extra

Or fruit boxes from supermarket covered in wrapping paper.

Thanks - these are great ideas! Will try and find some boxes and tissue paper I think.

My mind is creative for sure, I thought you had hamsters to wrap, not hampers.

No idea though.

Line the boxes with a nice (but cheap) teatowel. Supermarkets usually have those thick waffle ones.
