Anyone know any orgs collecting toys for low income families for Xmas? I have some - mostly hand me down but some new - and though I've left it late this seems a good use for them

Manchester radio are collecting new toys-just drop them off at an Asda.

Obviously if you're not in Manchester, this won't be of any use!! Grin

Forth one is also doing the same, so maybe try your local radio station? Or call round womens shelters

another Manchester one - this is a brilliant charity which I've worked with in the past

Yes, listen to your local radio, they are bound to have a toy appeal. They are usually asking for new unopened gifts though.

I'm taking mine to the family courts today. They appealed on the radio on Friday datum.g they have identified families who are really struggling. Which I prefare than them going to the children's hospital where I know the kids get loads.

The saddest thing I heard was the lady talking about the teenage kids. She said what they would like more than anything else it a new pair of trainers. :(

I would love to do this if anyone knows of anywhere in London? Hate to think of little ones not getting a Father Christmas visit - so Sad

yellowflowers · 19/12/2011 19:07

I just looked on the women's aid website, found a local refuge and rang them and offered.

Can I also ask if you get any unwanted smellies for Christmas that you offer them to your local Women's Refuge? Most of the women who turn up at a Refuge don't have toiletries so this means a lot to them... think how good you feel when you have a soaky bath with your fave bath oils. There is a lot of dignity having your own bar of lovely soap etc.
