Arthur Christmas - has anyone seen it?

We are thinking of taking the DC's (6 and 4) to see this next week but it has mixed reviews. Would be interested to know if anyone has seen it and what they thought of it?

I thought it was nice, not overwhelmingly great or anything. 4 year old DD watched whole thing (and kept 3D glasses on!) but didn't enjoy it as much as Tangled (the only other film she has seen at the cinema).

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 16/12/2011 18:41

DH, me and 3yo DD all loved it.

andSothisisChristmasme · 16/12/2011 18:41

I thought it was really good, nicely paced with enough to keep the adults laughing. DD (4) enjoyed it but got a bit restless towards the end - however it was her first cinema trip and she has only just turned 4.

I would definitely get it on DVD for next Christmas.

MegGriffin · 16/12/2011 18:51

I saw it with dd 9 and we both thoroughly enjoyed it!

FurryFox · 16/12/2011 18:53

My DH, mum, dd6 and dd3 and myself all really enjoyed it, didn't see it in 3D though, don't think my 3yr old would keep the glasses on. Enjoy if you do go Xmas Smile

mrsmplus3 · 16/12/2011 19:42

i took my 6yr old son and 3 and a half yr old daughter. they loved it and i was really enjoying it at first and then got a little bit bored/disappointed half way through. so yeah, good for the kids.

ps they really really loved tangled, that is hard to beat!

Fuzzywood · 16/12/2011 19:44

3 yr old DD and I enjoyed it. She sat all the way through it so must have been good.

applecrumbleandcream · 16/12/2011 23:11

I took my 4 yr old DD and she sat watching it all the way through and said she enjoyed it at the end. I wasn't that impressed - bit boring in places - but there again, not sure it was aimed at me?|

The3Bears · 16/12/2011 23:28

I took my 4 yr old ds and he loved it, I enjoyed it. It's a nice christmas film for children and I would watch it again.

sunnyday123 · 17/12/2011 10:29

dds aged 4 and 6 loved it but think i loved it the most!

SantaffetaClaus · 17/12/2011 10:32

It is brilliant, can't believe its had mixed reviews. I went with my DC ( 8, 5 ) and a bunch of others and they all loved it. Not a fidget or a chatter, just lots of laughter.

A wonderful film. I cant wait for it to come out on DVD. It will replace Elf as our Christmas Eve film from next year.

LolaLadybird · 17/12/2011 13:35

Thanks everybody - all positive comments which is great. We are planning a nice day out on Weds with the DC's involving ice skating, lunch and a film.

If people had said bad things about Arthur Christmas, my contingency plan was to go and see Chipwrecked (both children love Alvin and the Chipmunks) which I wasn't looking foward to - at least with Arthur, DH and I might also get to enjoy it.

Won't be watching it in 3D but as neither of the DC's have been to the cinema before (deprived children!) I think they will be thrilled anyway Xmas Smile.

My friend and I took our kids 2 weeks ago but not the 3d one. DD is 4, her 2 is 4.5 and her son is 3 today. He found it a bit boring but the girls loved it. I loved it as well

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 18/12/2011 10:33

I loved it as did DS (6yrs old)! We only watch in 2D ever and it was lovely.

Have fun!! Xmas Smile

saffronwblue · 18/12/2011 10:37

We all enjoyed it esp 10 year old DD. I was so relieved that Chipwrecked has not opened here yet that I could have sat through anything.
Arthur Christmas seemed (to my tired and pre-occupied with work brain) to be a searing expose of the last two highly dysfunctional workpkaces I have been in. No succession planning, no role clarification, woeful talent managment and many other HR cliches!

LolaLadybird · 18/12/2011 21:12

Saffron - I work in HR myself so will watch with interest!

Let me know what you think of it, Lola. I need someone to overanalyse discuss it with!

LolaLadybird · 19/12/2011 12:59

Will do - watch this space on Weds evening!

Piccalilli2 · 19/12/2011 22:09

I loved it, DH loved it (actually cried with laughter), dd1 (6) loved it and dd2 (3) sat right the way through with no fidgeting. A Christmas hit.

jingleyells · 19/12/2011 22:57

A group of eight of us watched this yesterday (ages 6-51), and we all really enjoyed it.

LolaLadybird · 20/12/2011 08:16

Excellent to hear more positive comments. I will book the tickets later today. So far I have held off booking the tickets for the cinema and the ice skating for fear that it will jinx one of the DC's into being too ill to go! Have only tempted fate sufficiently to book a table for lunch as it involved no financial outlay!
