Ok so I am super organised and did all my Christmas shopping in October and early November. However, dh has just informed me that MIL has not been able to afford any presents which is fine I don't expect anything, but she has younger children at home and she hasn't got them anything either.

MIL left her abusive twat husband last month, it was an escape in the middle of the night job so she was left having to start all over again. They have all had a shit time of it and I have been child with nothing to open on Christmas day and it's horrible, no member of my family will go through that if I can help it.

So can you kind mumsnetters help me find some bargains for 4 girls aged 15, 14, 8 and 7 and two boys aged 13 and 11?

I don't need anything big just nice little things are fine but as cheap as possible is what I need! And preferably with next day delivery or collect from store so I can be sure it gets here before Christmas.

Thank you so much! (and how typical of dh to not tell me until a week before!!!)

And obviously I have already got them a present but it's a big sweet hamper to share so not really the same as a few presents each Wink

Don't teenagers all want itunes vouchers?

Argos have some toys on half price at the moment.

Debenhams have some good offers too. There's a code on here for an extra 10% off too.

Home bargains or b and m bargains have loads of cheap bits and pieces , can get online or do you have store near you ?

Lilyloo · 16/12/2011 19:12

Also sainsbury have reduced some of their xmas gifts to half price

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 16/12/2011 19:15

Elc had quite a few things half price when I was in last week - quite a few games etc.

15 and 14 year old girls - how about a bag filled with hairspray, nail varnish remover, bubble bath, face wash, body spray etc? Stuff they will probably need throughout the year, all wrapped up together?

I know it's not exactly festive, but maybe some socks and pants and a warm jumper or a pair of fleecy jamas each too? Primark have some lovely ones and they were only £4 a pair when I bought 9 pairs for my lot
Those Bookends type bargain bookstores have special offers all the time too - ours has books and toys and crafty things in now and they were almost all on offer.

Most 6,7,8 year old girls I know love Moshi Monsters at the moment, you can get a few bits quite cheaply i.e. tattoo packs for £1, top trumps for £3, collectable cards for 75p a packet, blind bags of 2 little figurines for £2, wall stickers for £1.50.

For the older girls how about some make up, nail art sets, PJ's, Itunes voucher, books, new look have some nice gifty bits for girls - cute hot water bottles, notice boards, make up sets, slipper socks etc which won't break the bank.

For the younger girls how about a hula hoop or skipping rope, PJ's, hat and gloves set, snow globe, stationery stuff - wiilko's are good for this, got a paint your own canvas in there for £3 and a badge making set for £2

Not so sure about older boys - football/basketball/rugby ball, books, itunes voucher, funky T-shirt, nice shower gel/deo set..... My DS (9) has got fluro fingerless gloves which he was dead keen on, little tool kit each, remote control car.......

crazygracieuk · 16/12/2011 22:53

Pound shops are your friend. My local one has selection boxes for 69p, After Eights, makeup for 99p

Hawkins Bazaar is great for stocking fillery things like bouncy balls, stretchy men etc

olibeansmummy · 16/12/2011 23:09

I wouldn't get I tunes vouchers as if they've had to escape with nothing, that's likely to include computers/ Ipods/phones/pads! Sad

How about stationery sets for school, just vary them to suit their ages.
Hats, scarfs and gloves
Pjs
Small Lego sets for the boys
Smellies for the girls
It's a lovely thing you're doing Smile

EveryDayImShuffling · 16/12/2011 23:17

Go to 'Savers' for all the girls. Nail stickers, bargain 1.50ish a pack.
Maybe false nails for the older girls (again 1.50) and they have disney princess perfume for the younger ones only 1.20!!!
Boys not so sure about, how about cool retro pjs, or if they have ipodds you can get special ipod gloves so you don't need to take gloves off to use ipod (ebay them - 2.99 a pair)

Good luck. THis is a really nice gesture from you. x

Thank you so much everyone! I hate christmas shopping and I've been out all morning in every pound shop and sale I could find! Got a few bits for each of them so should be able to take the stress off MIL! Thank you again x (and have an unmumsnet christmas hug)
