If you're not all fed up of helping with ideas, something for my mum please

My mum is fab and also very thoughtful and good at doing presents and I'm putting as much thought into her gift as she does to others, but thinking is all I can manage! I'm out of ideas for her. I know she doesn't want us to spend money on her and would hate to think of us spending loads, she said a £5 pair of slippers is all she wants, but I'm looking for something maybe about £40 but would go more/less for the right thing.

I got her nice slippers and I got her this for her birthday which she loves as she went to catering college out of school and also is a very good host so for Christmas I got her a mini pie recipe book but it was only a few pounds in tk maxx so I'd like to get her something as a 'main' gift.

To be honest she would love and appreciate anything I get her but would like it to be something she's love and be especially pleased with.

My fall back plan is nice bath/body stuff, maybe joe malone/molton brown/origins type thing. But that seems so generic, I'd like to find something more her.

She is 53, she's a great host and likes baking (but has so much stuff for this already it's hard to find anything new) also jamie Oliver, watching tennis, particularly Andy Murray! She has her own business which is quite tying and makes me buying her days out/tickets very tricky. She loves teal/aqua colours but I've previously bought her a bag and jewelery this colour.

Her birthday is in the new year and I'm gettting a pendant engraved for her and hopefully a birthday card signed from Andy Murray! For Christmas my dad is getting her a pic of us 'kids' (23, 27 and 28) and what was my idea that I stupidly gave to him of vouchers for Jamie Oliver's restaurant which I know she will love.

So any mum's out there that have an idea or anything great you have got for your mum's/mil?

Sorry, that's really long and I know it seems crazy asking for more personal ideas from people who don't know her! There's just been some issues with dp's family which have taken over the last few weeks and she is normally my easiest person to buy for but I am just struggling now so any inspiration welcome!

I was going to say Jaime Oliver vouchers!

Hmm... Did you mean you got her slippers for her birthday or for Christmas? If they're for Christmas then I'd pair them up with some lovely toiletries as you suggested.

I bought my mum a handbag and filled it with useful things one year. You could buy the useful things without the bag and wrap them up like stocking presents. Suggestions are

Compact mirror
pretty pen and notebook
reuseable shopping bag that folds small
lippie
keyring
tiny perfume spray
pretty handbag pack tissues etc.

I gave up looking for one main present for my mum years ago. I now buy her several small ones which she loves. Kirsty Allsopp has a range in m&s of nice things and I saw a lovely cake stand if she's into stuff like that. I bought my mum the KA keepsake box, some slippers, a book, some posh room fragrance from TK Maxx, some posh notelets from TK Maxx, some chocs and a few small stocking fillers.

If she likes baking then have a look at this icing kit - my sister bought it for me one year and I love it so much! Much easier than using a piping bag in my opinion and it comes with some great templates too.
Cookie icer

Lakeland also has a set of some great nozzles here

If she likes pies this little fella is a great stocking filler! here

How about a beautiful cake presentation dish like this? I think I've seen them in TK Maxx as well.

And if she doesn't have an electric beater I can't recommend them highly enough! You can pick them up in lots of places, I got mine for £9.99 from Sainsburys and love it.

Boots also have a nice ceramic pie dish with pastry brush in their 3 for 2 gift offer at the moment. I love it and will be very Envy if you decide to go for that! Only available in stores though.

Can you tell I like baking? Xmas Grin

P.S. If she hasn't got this book, then she is really missing out!

Thankyou all so much, people taking their time out to help me gives me such Christmas spirit though it is like this all year round on mumsnet Xmas Smile

A lot of these suggestions are so perfect she already has them!
She's had all but the lippy and mirror from girly's list (she doesn't wear it) the primrose bakery book and a whole load of baking cases and a piping kit etc was a present a few gifts ago. She bought herself a hand mixer and has a kenwood chef too. She's been given the KA homehade home book before and has a selection of cake stands (as do I, I'm my mother's daughterXmas Grin) So you are all pretty spot on!

Mummy, I love that the boots pie dish has the little matching flower shaker, though a ,matching jug for cream/custard would have made it perfect!

I am going to get the pie funnel which is a perfect stocking filler and have put the red velvet chocolate heartache in my amazon basket for birthday/mother's day.

AKMD the slippers are for Christmas, when I was out today I read your reply on my phone and it gave me the confidence to pick some smellies. I saw the Liz Earle hot polish starter set with a cloth so I got that and a box of neal's yard toiletries and I'm sure she'll be delighted.

Thanks so much again for all taking the time to help
