Present challenge - if I describe something, can anyone tell me what it is called and also where I might buy a Santa version?

DS1 has specifically written on his christmas list for this item - I know exactly what he means but have no idea what it is called or where I would buy one from.

It is a small stocking filler-type item, it has a wooden base and a figure stood on top. When you push the bottom of the base up, the figure collapses (it has string or elastic through the limbs etc) and when you let go, the figure stands back up straight again.

Hope that makes sense - I bought DS1 a Mr Bump one a couple of years ago and DS2 got Makka Pakka last year (I think they may have both come from Tescos but not sure) but this year DS1 has specifically asked for a Father Christmas version Hmm Can't google it as I have no idea what to search for!

Oh I know what you mean, but also have no idea what it's called. What about Hawkins bazaar or something?

They seem to get called different things by different manufacturers - push-up, press-up, push-base...

Find them in the pocket money sections of toyshops, ELC, John Lewis.

Some online here -

I thought you meant one of these when I first read your post but I'm now thinking maybe I'm wrong? Tumbling acrobat was the only thing I could think of, sorry!

Tiggles · 12/12/2011 21:36

They are called 'push up classic toys' on ebay, but didn't see a santa one there.

ceebeegeebies · 12/12/2011 21:38

Those are exactly what I was looking for Smile Thank you very much - I figure if I can get the more obscure items off DS1's list, he will believe in Santa more Grin

I really don't know what I do without MN!

Ceebee,

They have these in my local poundland!! Santas, snowmen and Xmas trees I think.. Pretty decent ones too (for what they are if you see what I mean!)

If u cant get one I'd happily post one for you! Smile

lookoveryourshoulder · 12/12/2011 23:18

... the modern name for these type of toys is Push Puppets... the old fashioned name was Wakouwa

If you are buying any of these little darlings from Poundland - check their noses - last time I looked all their Santas and Snowman were missing their little carrot noses - not a good look and only something that a child would notice...

Regards - The Push Puppet Princess... Xmas Wink

Celebmum thank you for the offer but I have bought one from one of the links posted earlier Smile
