Gah! I know I'm really late but what on earth can I buy our nanny?

I did think about getting her a year's worth of AA cover as she's learning to drive, but I don't know if she's already got cover (her dh drives, they have 2 cars) plus it's not very exciting. She's very in to clothes and always dresses really nicely, but I wouldn't have a clue what to get her. We're a bit broke (aren't we all?) so I can't really go bonkers. I was hoping to avoid the smellies/bottle of fizz/chocs cliche.

An accessorize voucher?

headfairy · 12/12/2011 11:56

I did think of some sort of voucher... she does like a good shop (usually with my kids in tow Hmm)

I thought something like this might be nice

That is pretty, if you are sure of her taste then go for it. I have to admit I would love an accessorize voucher ( take note dsis if you are on here), so biased. Or a voucher for a spa.

Restaurant voucher? Subscription to Vogue if she's into fashion?

I agree with a gift voucher too if you are not sure it's always a safe bet.

Depending on the ages of your dc get them to make a card and write something inside or if they are little get them to dictate something for you to write. I am a nanny and do this with my charges, the first year my now 6 year old charge could talk he made the card and I said what would you like to write to mummy and daddy, he said thankyou for milk. I not like bedtime! So I wrote it in quotations and put his name and the date on. They loved it and put it up every year with the decorations.

You could also give them £5 to pick something for her, make sure they are clear it's for her and tell them to give you a reason why they want to get it, it may be weird or random but will be from them and either sweet or funny, possibly both!

I second the magazine subscription. I got one for a cookery magazine last year. It was so lovely to have it turn up every month.

What about Red magazine or Elle?
