...he is 4.8.

I'm OK with it, as I don't remember ever believing in Father Christmas and still loved the magic of it all, but is this parr for the course in reception?

He told me he knew it wasn't really Father Christmas, it was the parents who put the presents there. I said that was an interesting idea, where did he hear that? I could tell he was trying to decide if it was OK to say or not, and he seemed to decide not, as if he thought it was somehow taboo? He then said reindeers can't fly. I said something about it being a mystery and didn't push the conversation.

It just feels a bit weird.

Tell him that it's fun to pretend that he's real. My children and I firmly pretend to believe the myth, to the extent of watching him on NORAD on Xmas eve, leaving mince pies out etc. But I don't do anything like wrap presents from Santa in different wrapping, because we're only pretending, they know the truth.

Oh yeah, that's it, he told me it was a "legend"

I think it just seems obvious to him that it's just a story...and why not indeed? I think I'll take checkmate's line of explaining to him that it's fun to join in the myth and "believe".
