Any ideas - present for a one year old youngest child?

Family lives in a relatively small rented house, older siblings are close in age so they have lots of toys - and they are likely to move overseas in the next year or so.

Have got to the stage of thinking that we should just go for a token present (possibly dd may make him a xmas stocking) and some ££s for his parents to put in a savings account. But . . . . it would be nicer to give him something proper, IYKWIM? What do you think, parents of 1 year olds ??? What would you like your youngest baby to have? :)

Biggest box you can find, filled with inflated balloons. Xmas Smile

That's a fantastic idea . . .but I have to post it !

I could supply a flat pack box, a bag of balloons and a pump, perhaps Grin

Can you do a mail order helium balloon? Just pic a character one, Night Garden for eg.

Otherwise....a book? a sticker/colouring book? hmm bit stuck.

Could do a book, but I think they have a pretty good selection already - did wonder about a 'classic' nice book for when he's older, but then if they are moving abroad Confused

I think one is too young for sticker books really? Its a long time since dd was that little, but really they are still babies, no? (He is quite literally just one, his birthday is in December.)

Clothes then? as he probably wears lots of handmedowns so something a bit pricier than you'd buy for your own kids?

Takver · 09/12/2011 21:28

Have just thought - maybe some nice baby cutlery ? Even if he doesn't use it much now he could grow into it? Or as you say maybe clothes are the way to go.

I agree with JKS - a nice pair of trousers or jumper might be a good idea.

I also think that your idea of some £ for his bank account is good. I'm planning to ask a couple of people if they would like that for their child's Christmas.

JKSLtd · 09/12/2011 21:33

Nice cutlery is good, esp a set as you always end up losing bits and bobs. And then he can always use 'his' set. Good plan, and there are some very nice sets out there - but can't think of where right now!

I think I might go for the cutlery - there's a nice kitchen shop in town that would probably have something that would suit. And if not I can fall back on ££s or a nice pair of trews

Tyrrell Katz for kids cutlery. They are lovely!

Ah, thanks MrsJangle, for suggestion, will look out for them.

And also randomly that reminds me what I wanted to get for my friends dd too! (now needs to look for child's bag in shape of ladybird . . .)
