'Beautiful books' for a 6yo and a 3yo

I like to get the little people in my life a beautiful book for Xmas. Normally I'd go to Waterstones or similar and pick one out but I have a newborn this year and just can't face anything other than internet shopping.

In the past I've bought books that pop up and become puppet theatres/fairy castles, that kind of thing. Can anyone recommend me something similar for two little girls age 6 and 3 (not MY little girls btw) that can hopefully be bought on Amazon :) Many TIA.

Lots of lovely ones by Robert Sabuda - this is one of my favourites

I'd recommend the Reinhart and Sabuda pop ups too. Dd has a great collection of these, they're amazing to look at. They have a special Christmas one I think.

Oh I'm sorry. I can't help myself. My husband designed the Peter Pan book. Too excited to see it on Mumsnet. Going to hide now.

shinybaubles · 07/12/2011 14:48

Really farewell - it's brilliant I love it and so does ds who is 5 and ds who is almost 2 loves the noise. He did a great job.

farewellfigure · 07/12/2011 14:55

Thank you on his behalf :) I love the Sabuda books as well. Pop-up books rule!

babyonbord · 07/12/2011 14:55

the velveteen rabbit is a lovely story, i've bought it for my 6 month old as a keepsake for christmas

Wheelybug · 07/12/2011 14:57

Yes I'd recommend the Peter pan pop up (I've also bought the wizard of oz one
For a few presents). They're fab with the noises etc.

Farewell we have the Peter Pan one. It's fantastic. What a clever husband you have!

babyonbord · 07/12/2011 17:04

what about the jolly postman they are quite nice

donteatyourteawithnoknickerson · 07/12/2011 21:40

My brother got this for my DD last year when she was 6 - it is truly gorgeous and has lots of elements to explore - flaps, pop up sections, my DD was thrilled.

I think the global garden is great and have given as a present many times - the amazon pictures don't do it justice

ggirl · 07/12/2011 21:57

the jolly xmas postman
9yr old ds and I read it last night

DamnDeDoubtance · 08/12/2011 16:57

The necklace of raindrops

stealthsquiggle · 08/12/2011 17:11

Another vote for Robert Sabuda - DD has winters tale and it is just the most gorgeous thing you can imagine.

WifiNappies · 08/12/2011 23:18
