Which is the best Christmas film for a 5 year old to watch on Christmas Eve?

Have decided it would be lovely to spend some time on Christmas Eve having a nap snuggled up with the DC watching a Christmas film in the afternoon.

DS2 will wander off and go and do his own thing but DS1 would love to watch a Christmas film.

Am rubbish with film names but am thinking either the one with Dudley Moore (my personal fave) or the one with Tim Allen. Which do you think would be good for a 5 year old or are there any others that are good Smile

Santa Claus The Movie, Elf, Home Alone, Muppets Christmas Carol and The Grinch are some of DS1's (5) favourites.

I know I mentioned it earlier but mickeys once upon a Christmas is lovely and ticks a lot of the boxes. It is 3 shorter films, about 30 mins each I think and is funny and heartwarming and perfect for little ones.

Raggydoll thank you for the suggestion about Mickey Mouse. We actually watched that last week and DS1 did enjoy it but it was more for DS2 is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. I want something that is a bit more 'grown up' for DS1 to enjoy.

I'd say the snowman or muppets christmas carol.. I do LOVE Elf though!

My 6 year old loved home alone. Has to be 1 or 2 though.

We'll be watching Disney's A Christmas Carol- the newer one with the voice of Jim Carey- on Christmas Eve. We went to the cinema to see it last Christmas when DS was 4. It is fantastic- although very dark, not good if the DC scare easy! Mine loved it though.

It's actually on Sky now..... might watch a bit.....

I watched Elf yesterday with my son...who is 5...he was rolling around in hysterics on the floor!

My 5 year old loves Muppet Christmas Carol has done for a couple of years and it’s our tradition to watch on Christmas Eve (from my childhood)
He also likes the Nativity films, even more so now he has been in his school’s one.

He accidentally saw Home Alone which freaked him out and he was upset that the mummy left the little boy behind as mummy’s don’t do that and what if I left him.

Muppets Christmas Carol was our tradition when I was a child and my children now watch it on Christmas Eve too :)
