When i was a kid we left them on the fire grate, and whoosh they were gone up the chimney by morning.

We don't have a fireplace, and generally leave it out on the table in the living room. Never posted it, as dd was convinced the postman wouldn't believe in FC! Do you have any much more inventive ways of the elves collecting it.

(i really don't think this yr DD truly believes they will magic it away!)

We've always just posted ours in the ordinary post box. I guess my lot have more faith in the Posties than your DD Xmas Grin

ou burn them in the garden obviously

The writing turns orange and flies up into the sky and on to the nothe pole.

I know this works because when I was small I actualy saw the letters flying off the page as it burnt.

when i was little there was a 'magic nail' in the wall in my grandads shed. We used to put our letters through that. Then everytime we went round to my grandparents we'd check to see if there was a reply. A few weeks later there would be!

MuddlingThroughItAll · 03/12/2011 19:08

We get ours to throw them out of the front door on a suitably windy day so that the letters can 'fly off' to Father Christmas. For this to work though it does have to be very dark and you do need to hurry them away from the door so that you can retrieve the letters before they fly off! The best bit is that you can keep the letters for written proof of what they actually want :o

we burnt it! and dd ran round the garden waving sparklers to attract the magic!!

great!

The Royal Mail has an address where you can send your letter to FC, I found it on their website :)

ILoveShinyThings · 03/12/2011 23:01

We send them through the post and send an email just in case the letters get lost in the post (my children have no faith in the postal service). Xmas Grin

katz · 03/12/2011 23:04

Carol that's what we do to, the letters are written we're waiting for less wind to be able to burn them.

In the post box

the postcode is
SAN TA1

In UK, royal mail will attempt to "catch " all mail to that postcode and get it to santa, who MAY reply. but only if it gets there before dec 14th,

Put them in the post-box. And he's not coming down the chimney. Front door like any other civilised being according to dd, 2.8.

The last few years we've emailed him. You get a reply almost instantly which is obviously automatically generated, but which is done quite cleverly with the details you enter so that it is convincing enough. We have then saved the reply.

This year we've posted them and are hoping that we will get a reply.
