I've taken a card off the giving tree in town and am to buy a gift for an anonymous 10yo girl called "Eve" who is disadvantaged/in need in some way.

Mind has gone blank! No idea what's "in". Long time since my DD was 10 Blush

Budget is no more than £10.

Links would be very useful :)

This is in my dd's stocking and crafts and nice stationery are always a hit here.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 03/12/2011 14:36

She would love some Body Shop toiletries, or nail polish set, or small bag or watch from Claire's Accessories.

Agree with the other suggestions, though 10 can be a tricky age. Some girls still want childish things (Sylvanians etc), while others are more sophisticated.

Perhaps an origami kits with some extra pretty paper, or a nice assortment of gel pens.

BLUE NOSE Friends
Nothing else compares
Glittery nail polish, art + craft stuff, horsey things, a lot but by no means all are into fashion/Moshi Monsters, too.

seb1 · 03/12/2011 15:43

What about Sequin art

Marne · 03/12/2011 16:43

A Klutz kit here ?

NotMostPeople · 03/12/2011 16:46

I wouldn't go for a soft toy, my 10 year old dd would think that very babyish.

Arty kit type things are popular, as are harumika kits. Or a cd like Now 80 would go down well.

NettoHoHoHoSuperstar · 03/12/2011 16:50

Moshi Monsters/Pokemon/Twilight/Justin Bieber/Lush Stuff.
My 10yr old likes that anyway.

mediawhore · 03/12/2011 16:52

My 10year old wants so so much tat!

But for £10 she would like make up ('play' stuff), a perfume (again a cheapie), New look vouchers, Crafty stuff.

Plonker · 03/12/2011 17:00

A gift voucher for Claire's
A pair of animal mittens (my 11, nearly 12 yo is desperate for some!)
Fine liners and pretty notepad
Scented gel pens
Novelty money box
Christmassy slipper socks - boots are cool
Mini impulse set/bath bombs

DaydreamDolly · 03/12/2011 17:14

Jls or One Direction CD

ByTheSea · 03/12/2011 17:17

I wouldn't get anything too overtly girly. My DDs (9 and 12) would hate all of that. Something arts and crafty would be good. If she is disadvantaged, she may not have her own set of art supplies and could get a lot of use of of this type of thing.

VivaLeBeaver · 03/12/2011 17:22

Stationary from paper chase, like a nice pencil case or pencils and pens.

Plonker · 03/12/2011 17:52

I'd be careful about getting something like a CD tbh. There's no saying that there'll be a CD player in the house.

Just a thought.

NotMostPeople · 04/12/2011 08:37

Coming back to agreed with nice stationary, fine liners etc. also slipper boots my dds 10 and 12 chose a pair each of fluffy ones with Pom poms on from Primark £5.

LIZS · 04/12/2011 08:42

Hair bits, usborne doodle books/pens, something Tatty Teddy etc, small craft set

AvadventKalendar · 04/12/2011 18:21

Thank you all!

Had a quick peek in Claire's for inspiration, saw some cool Hello Kitty things, is that a bit young though? Left after they kept hounding me grrr!

My dd is 9, but a lot of her friends are 10 (in yr 5). The problem is, they vary so much - some are really into girly stuff, others not at all, some into toys still, some much more 'grown up'. DD would def. think that Hello Kitty was naff, I'm afraid.

Agree crafty stuff, nice pens/pencils etc would be good (though not letter writing stationary, too school work-y I would say).

The one other thing I can think of that I reckon they would all like (even the anti-girly brigade) would be a sparkly christmas top, I reckon you could easily get something nice within your £10 budget from somewhere like Peacocks.

olibeansmummy · 04/12/2011 20:18

I work with disadvantaged kids and they all seem to go mad for nice stationery. And please put in a pair of gloves as a lot of our kids come to school with freeeezing hands Sad
