maybe some sort of quiz thing that the kids might get some of the answers but is a bit silly or some sort of shop brought game. Every year about xmas eve I think about this but never have the time or cash to do anything but this year feeling a bit organised and want to get it done for once. Any ideas....

I like Rummikub: it's a cross between Rummy and Scrabble. It depends how old your children are but there's no reason why they can't play as a team with Mum or Dad.

Monopoly is a good old one if you don't have it already, or Cluedo. Or the original Uno card game.

UNO is great but not so good forints of people.

We played the Logo Game last year. We were ages 5-75yrs and all enjoyed it.

Other things that have gone down well are those puzzles where you have to separate two shapes. We had a box of 6 different ones, they were being passed around most of the day.

Bingo was also a laugh!

Cheating is usually compulsory Grin

Rapidough is fantastic and you can play in teams. The minimum age on the box is 8, but that's more because some of the things to model are a bit tricky. If you give younger players the option to pick another card then it's fine. It's like pictionary, but with playdough.

My mum(65), neice(11) and dd(4) all love playing harry potter scene it. I think you get different versions, I know there's a Friends one as well.
If you have a Wii we have a quiz game for it called Smartypants. You tell it the ages of everyone in the teams and it's meant to tailor the questions to suit. It also has daft games and things like double points dances inbetween rounds.

We love Pictureka and have bought it as a gift for various friends and family members!

Also recommend Phase 10. It's a card game and is fab from about age 6.

If the children are not too young, there is a family version of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire on DVD.

You select whether each player is a child or adult and it automatically adapts the questions for the age group.

In our family we love Uno Extreme. My four year old can play it... but as a card game, it works for adults too... Fun for all the family Smile

You could play consequences but with pictures - everyone draws a hat, folds the top of the paper and passes on, then you all draw a head, fold and pass on etc

PastGrace - glad you like Rapidough, I've bought it for my sister and BIL!
