Grin

MIL is hosting Christmas. The only thing she will let me bring is crackers (and Christmas pud but that's sorted).

So, suggestions for really lovely ones please. I don't mind paying lots for them on the basis its our only contribution. There will be 8 children under 7 so will probably get some children's one and some for the adults.

I love John lewis Oxford street for crackers they have a fantastic selection; not quite as good as Fortnum and Mason's though!!!! Which is a jaw dropping shop at any time even more so at Christmas (it's deffo. worth a visit) they have crackers that start at £ 25 a box and go on to £1000!!Shock

How about www.weebirdy.com/2011/11/20-best-crackers-plus-one.html but possibly not the 6 for £40 ones!

Ooooooh - some lovely ones on that blog. Thank you Smile. I'm not in London but will check out the local John Lewis though.

How large is your group? The best ones i have seen have coloured hand bells in them and a coloured tune sheet. Everyone around the table has to play a tune in time. But think they come in boxes of 8... I saw them in Dobbies but think they are available elsewhere...

Some of the Tom Smith ones in Costco were eyewateringly expensive (£18+) then add VAT.They have them in the Range too.

I liked the M&S ones, we usually get them on the 3 for 2 offer.
But this year I'm doing dark green as my colour theme rather than white and silver.

So I got some green/gold and red/gold from Aldi.Mainly because of the colour (£5 for 12). We have one each on the 24th/25th/26th.

I think for kids you want ones with wind up racing turkeys or puddings or similar. That way they all get the same and they can all instantly play with what they get.

TK Maxx had some great ones. I loved the Emma Bridgewater ones with holly leaves on - about £8. They had huge Tom Smith ones with more adult stuff inside - notebooks, vanity mirrors etc, and some great ones for kids - box with teddy bears on and some with whistles inside for performing songs (maybe not a good idea with 7 small kids - you'd probably end up with a headache), also some with games in and one lot with a whoopee cushion which I am not buying as DNeice will be with us on Christmas day and she is obsessed with whoopee cushions and will spend all afternoon farting playing with it.

If you're feeling creative, get some of the ones you fill yourself (options on Amazon).

A few years ago when going for a Christmas lunch inbetween Christmas and NY with BIL and SIL I got some from Hotal Chocolat - they were fab.
