Stocking fillers suggestions please!

For the first year ever my kids have a stocking each instead of one between them. Previous years Santa has filled the stocking with toy cars, sleich animals, art and craft stuff and some random bits that I he saw and thought 'Oh, that's cute!'. All of it was stuff they'd all like.

I'd He'd like to make them a bit more interesting and personal this year though (and cheap!) so what bits and bobs do you all get that don't cost much but kids love? And preferably last beyond the day itself >

My children are dd (almost 7), ds1 (5) and ds2 (almost 3)

I'm thinking a few cheapy bits of make up for dd as she invariably comes home from her friends covered in the stuff so I know she'd love it. Other than that though I'm drawing a blank...

Torch for the oldest one?

Not going to last beyond the day, but sainsburys have reduced their tubes of m&m's to £1 AND they are on buy one get one free!

M&S have a whoopi cushion which my DD1 (5) will adore.

Start off with a trawl round a pound shop - you never know exactly what there will be but there's always something. E.g. last year mine had some really nice skinny scarves (a 7 yr old DD might be old enough to like?) in exactly the colour my DD likes.

I've got DD(5) one of those headband style ear muff things and some slippers from primark and got her some cheap girly make up from wilkinsons. Aside from that I usually get her a bag of chocolate pennies, a christmas tube of smarties (they're normally on offer) some knickers or socks. I also got her asda's version of jenga (about £3). M&S have a good selection of what they call pocket money toys as well.

I'm having far more trouble doing one for DS (11mo)!

I had a mooch in a pound shop today and in lucky with loads of cheap but good quality art supplies.

Thanks for all suggestions, some great ideas I wouldn't have thought of here

DM always put (and I'm continuing the tradition with DP and MIL): two satsumas and a bag of chocolate coins. She tied a cracker, a helium balloon and a special magazine to the top.

How about: small packs of card/travel games, printouts from the Internet of puzzles/colouring in (link here for personalised puzzles), gloves, socks, knickers (nice ones you wouldn't normally get), Hawkins Bazaar do bouncy balls etc.
