A few years ago someone we know got their DD (3 or 4 yo) a digital camera. It looked really nice & sturdy, but would it really survive life with a 3yo? And,would it really be used? DD1(3) loves taking pictures with our phones, but I wonder if it would be as much fun with her own camera?

We bought DS2 a digital camera for his 4th birthday. We decided against the ones designed for children as the photo quality is crap (not saying we expected DS2 to become next David Bailey......just didn't see point in only having rubbish photos). I think we paid around £40-50 for it and it is still going strong now, 4 years on. It has been dropped several times but we also bought a wrap around case for it which protects it somewhat. It is a Fuji one from Jessops.

We just got DS a lego camera and he loves it. The photographs aren't amazing quality, but he doesn't care about that, he really really likes it.

We bought DD a proper digital camera for her 4th birthday. It was a chunky Canon one. Was in the sale and around £50ish at the time. She is 9y now and it is still in good working order, just lower megapixels than new ones so quality not as good. Never had any problems with it getting damaged or anything.

Have seen the kid's cameras but the picture quality on them is generally very poor.

Don't buy the fisher price kid tough one. As PPs have said, terrible picture quality. And same for v tech one I think.
