Lemon sherbet vodka, cherry vodka,Christmas pudding vodka & cherry brandy.

They are all sitting prettily in my kitchen & dh keeps looking longingly at them.

I had some cherries left over so i made ds some cherry 'wine' which made him chuckle, basically just cherries dropped into some lemonade which then turned red.

i need cherry vodka please xxxxx

DoingTheBestICan · 22/11/2011 20:51

The recipe or a virtual glass?Grin

So darn easy to make,a punnet of cherries stoned,150g of caster sugar & 150ml of water, place all above in a saucepan till the sugar has dissolved then spoon into your bottles,i put enough in to 1/4 fill the bottle, then top up with vodka.

I'll open them Christmas week & till then i'll gently mix the bottles once a week.

DoingTheBestICan · 22/11/2011 20:57

I would gladly give you a bottle [tee-total emoticon] but i think dh would divorce me.

Hi Doing - the lemon sherbet vodka sounds amazing Grin

any chance of the recipe?

Pretty pretty pretty please? [begging emoticon]

DoingTheBestICan · 22/11/2011 21:29

If you can call it a recipe,i'm almost ashamed to post itBlush,a quarter of sherbet lemon sweets chopped in half (watch your fingers) put them into your bottle & pour your vodka over the top.

I made mine about lunchtime & the sweets had all dissolved by 3pm.It's a lovely bright yellow colour too.

Just told dh & he is standing guard over them Grin

They all sound gorgious. The christmas pudding vodka and cherry brandy recipes pretty pretty pretty PRETTY please Grin

DoingTheBestICan · 22/11/2011 21:58

Ok,christmas pud vodka recipe,
Sultanas, raisins, almonds, grated orange peel & juice of 1 orange, cherries, cinnamon stick, cranberries & a tsp of mixed spice, all spooned into your bottle & topped up with vodka, this needs at least 4 weeks to really take the flavours on.Give it a gentle shake once a week & sieve through coffee filter papers at least twice to give you a nice liquid.

Cherry brandy recipe,
Cherries, sugar & water in a saucepan, heat till sugar dissolves then place inyour bottle & pour over your brandy.

I used really cheap vodka & brandy & you dont need to weigh your ingredients, you just use whatever you need for whatever size bottle you use.

Have fun Grin

I only strained my Christmas Pud rum once through a coffee filter which took forever and it is still a bit cloudy. Will a second filter make it clearer?

DoingTheBestICan · 23/11/2011 15:32

Yes,i did mine 3 times & there was cloudiness to it at all.

Oh thank you DoingTheBest! (confession: I actually thought christmas pudding was put into the vodka Blush)

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 23/11/2011 16:10

At the risk of sounding like a complete alky, can I use empty bourbon bottles to make these in?

DoingTheBestICan · 23/11/2011 18:37

Yes,i just keep any bottle that takes my fancy during the yr & store them in dh's garage -much to his annoyance- cos its his mancave.
