Any ideas where I can get one? Would like one that just has pictures. Supermarket/cheapy shops only seem to have chocolate ones so far. I should make one really but I've left it a bit late!

fabric calenders

MrsChristmasDB · 21/11/2011 23:03

Lakeland do a pop up 3D Christmas Tree calendar. Bit pricey though. £7.99

Try googling paper advent calendar ?

I had a big FC one one year, it was about 3ft ! Looked great on the wall. Smile

Bought a beautiful one from Lidl recently. It was £8, but figure he will use itfor years.

attheendoftheday · 22/11/2011 09:09

Lots of picture advert calanders on Amazon. I got this one for DD recently.

PromiseFalls · 22/11/2011 09:42

Whsmith had some last weekend, I saw them.

Also Clintons cards had some last year, maybe try some of the more expensive card shops.

itsstillgood · 22/11/2011 10:23

Clintons have them for £2.49.
Or Barnados and Oxfam.
Alternatively make something like this which will be much easier for 18m old fingers.

thesurgeonsmate · 22/11/2011 10:27

I was hoping to get away without one at 18 months! Am I a spoil sport?

Iggly · 22/11/2011 10:31

DS wouldn't have got it at 18 months and even now (2), we're having one for me and DH only Grin

Phenox trading have some nice ones where you add raindeers or elfs etc to the scene. Some are reuseable others are not but they cost £7.50 each. So if you know someone with a catalog it might be worth having a look?

LennyGodber · 23/11/2011 09:02

Ooh thanks all, will have a look at those. I do buy a lot of cards from Phoenix so will have a look!

Me and DP love Christmas and always had advent calendars anyway, I can't have one for us and not one for tiddler!

Cards for Good Causes have 'shops' all over the place at the moment and ours ONLY has non-chocolate advent calendars. And at least 75% goes to charity.

2madboys · 23/11/2011 09:24

You beat me to it addicted! I sell Phoenix so am slightly biased but the one you mean is called Reindeer stables. If you already know a trader they should be able to get one for you although you'll need to be quite quick to get it before December! You add something in each day and have the whole stable by Christmas. It's this one: Reindeer Stables

LennyGodber · 24/11/2011 21:12

I love that Phoenix one but think it would be a bit too delicate for DD this year. Where would I find these cards for good causes?

John Lewis have got a gruffalo's child one

SirBoobAlot · 24/11/2011 22:26

Ohh could you link to gruffalo one please?

purpleturtletoise · 24/11/2011 22:33

DS2 has just received this Phoenix one from his godmother. No fiddly characters to place, just windows to open.

I am more excited about the paper chains that came with it. Grin

Tiggles · 24/11/2011 22:55

Hawkins Bazaar are doing some 'just cardboard' ones with old fashioned Father Christmas type pictures on, £1.99 I think.

nothingoldcanstay · 24/11/2011 23:27

Between the Lines have tons of picture ones.

Do not buy ones with drawers thinking they will love and use it for years (and work out cheaper). Mine costs a fortune to fill (need at least 7 different sweets to stop it being dull and most exciting chocs won't fit in my drawers). My Ds has been given advent calendars every year anyway from family and friends making mine redundant and has wanted a Lego one for the last 2 years.

tassisssss · 25/11/2011 09:16

Christian bookshops are best for traditional advent calendars IMO but you'll often get in WH Smith too.

OP, I love a fabric one for that age.

SuckItAndSee · 25/11/2011 09:18

WHSmith and John Lewis both have a good selection
they are £££ compared to the chocolate ones though - from about four quid to about a tenner for a 3D one.

chocoroo · 25/11/2011 09:21

We got The Gruffalo's Child one from John Lewis for DD who is 9 months. I felt mean buying mine and DP's but hers was 3 x the price of our Cadbury ones!

GruffalosGirl · 25/11/2011 09:36

Here's the Gruffalo's child one.

They've gone and reduced it since I got it Sad

They also do a lovely Quentin Blake one

letmehelp · 25/11/2011 09:42

My DCs always loved this one Print it off and stick a cotton wool ball on each day, so by Christmas Eve Sana has a lovely fluffy beard Smile

rednose · 25/11/2011 11:32

Big thanks let me help. Me and my sick niece have just made that santa advent for my 3 year old! He is due home from nursery and will love it such a refreshing change from shop bought one-cheers

LennyGodber · 25/11/2011 16:14
