We are considering taking our 2 children away next christmas with my dps 2 sisters and their families. 6 adults 6 children.

I have had a look at prices and it is quite expensive but i think it would be lovely. It wouldnt be until dec 12, as we will need to save!

Anyone have any experience of doing this? did it work? what did you do re presents?

Thanks

Many years back some friends used to do this as none of their homes were big enough to accommodate everyone. They all seemed to enjoy it, as it was neutral territory and everyone had to pitch in and help with all the cooking and cleaning up, and they all contributed food and drink. It worked best when they had a rota for each couple/family to be responsible for certain meals, i.e. bringing the ingredients or ready-made to be re-heated. Although there were only 3 young DC and quite a few adults in their party, and some only dropped by for a couple of nights so you might need to plan meals differently. I don't think they were at their cottage for more than 4 days including Christmas eve.

Presents can be tricky, especially large ones. Bear in mind the extra stuff you will already be taking, food, bedding etc and how much will you be able to squeeze into the car.

I'm just going on what they told me, I've never done this myself.

I think it sounds great.

I would book somewhere with stuff to do nearby. Just in case you are sick of each other by day 2 Wink
