am looking for a new christmas tree but not having much luck finding what i want. please help me........
stipulations are as follows- green tree, pre lit. needs to be 6.5-7ft and have lots of lights (at least 300) would like warm white lights, not bright white, and preferably twinkling or multi function. would like to spend under £100 but can go a bit over if required. can be online or in a store. looked at b&q, homebase and the range.

I'll join you in your quest as I'm looking for something similar.
Saw some trees in a garden centre the other week with "PE Tips", which are soft, moulded needles that look quite realistic, but are more expensive. Like

this one

Cherry, from what I've seen pre-lit trees are very costly compared to trees needing separate lights. I think it will be difficult on your budget to get a decent quality tree that is pre-lit that meets all your requirements. How important is pre-lit to you, because you could get a really good tree and separate lights for much less money.

ChippyMinton · 18/11/2011 10:01

Girlywhirly, that's a good point. Also means you can have white lights one year, coloured lights the next.

CherryMonster · 18/11/2011 10:01

girly- i can extend the budget a bit, but not too much. it must be pre-lit though as i get into a terrible tangle stringing on lights normally. i have seen one that i linked too which might just about be perfect.

I think I have found the secret to putting the lights on the tree. Start at the top and work down zig-zagging the cable first one way around to the back, then the other way across the front and round to the back. Continue until you get to the bottom of the branches. When you take them off, start at the bottom and work up.

You can get plastic frames for winding cables onto, so you can wind the lights up as you go, and they are not tangled for the following Christmas. This would probably work in reverse, you just unwind cable as you position it on the tree.

It would be nice if there were static energy saving lights, I have only seen energy saving multi function ones. Flickering lights make me feel a bit queasy, so I resent paying for multi functions I'm not going to use, because they are on static all the time.

That one on Amazon looks nice Cherry.

i think my main issue with stringing on the lights is that it never looks right and i am a bit finicky when it comes to my christmas tree. if the lights are already attached its something i cant control and therefore dont need to worry about it Grin

I just found this advice on how to string lights.

DumSpiroSpero · 19/11/2011 09:34

Any good?

ChippyMinton · 25/11/2011 17:18

Cherry - did you get a tree?
Homebase have every tree half-price, and and extra 10% off today and tomorrow.

I bought this monster, with 240 warm white static LED lights.

Make do wuth a cheap / old / real one until the week before xmas. Then get a fab one in the sale.

We did that 5 years ago and got a £120 HUGE tree for £25 on xmas eve.

All by accident mind, our real one was as dry the Sahara and looked too grim to make do.

Doing this again this year as we need a new tree again!
