12 yo X-Box mad DS-would you recommend Skyrim?

DS loves his X-Box, especially Halo and Assassins Creed.

I've seen Skyrim on Telly, it's a 15 or 16 age certificate.
The graphics look like the kind of game he plays.
Can anyone recommend?

I've bought it for my 11 yr old ds for christmas.

he loves Oblivion, assassins creed and halo and he has been asking for skyrim for months.

Got this from Game- they did have a special offer on the book but it's finished now. (was £10 now back up to £20 Hmm )
Too mean to pay full price for the book

No. It's very violent and can be quite scary and dark. It's also quite complicated and involved... Certainly not a dame you could really enjoy by playing an hour a couple of times a week to whatever.

Games have age ratings for a reason.

Agree with Methe. It has the same age rating as Oblivion (previous game in the series) but is quite a bit more violent than that. I let my 11 yr old DD play Oblivion (it is a 12 in Germany) but do not let her play Skyrim (16 in Germany) at all.

depends how mature your son is really, i played games like that at that age (not so well but still lol)
plus i think i would recommend watching gameplay on you tube and prehaps games site just to get a good feel of the game :)

Skyrim is not a game I would want a 12 year old playing. It is more violent than Oblivion- by a long way. The way the blood spurts as you impale them on the sword is pretty gruesome.

the bbfc website tells you exactly whats in it and why its a 15
if you haven't been to the site before of course! :)

It's pretty graphic - especially as you progress in the game, you can get perks that enable you to decapitate enemies - this happens in slowmo finishing video style and doesn't leave much to the imagination. Other slowmo finishing moves can also be pretty detailed. There is also a decapitation within the opening sequence of the game (less detailed than the finishing moves though). I also agree with Methe that it's very dark.

I wouldn't say a definite no - but it would heavily depend on how mature your 12 year old is and how well he was able to handle that. The BBFC is far more helpful than PEGI, and tbh, in the case of Skyrim I think the 15 rating is a fair one.

(Also, I have sunk 40+ hours into the game and am still very much near the beginning - it could well get a lot more gruesome as you progress!)
