In the past, we have had a collage picture made from pulses/grains, pen holder from toilet role tube, various other pictures, hand-printed mug, photo-frame. I'm wondering what she could make this year. Any ideas?

Dh is American so will be making cookies with her. We already have framed prints.

But I like the glitter-decorated plain baubles. I don't think for a present though - I have a ton of plain baubles that she would love to decorate.

I was going to say Christmas cookies too. Dead easy to make (with help, obviously), and she can decorate them with edible glitter, silver balls, coloured icing and put them in a little cellophane bag. I got some nice Christmas shaped cutters from Lakeland last year - I think there were about 12 designs of holly, trees, angels, bells, etc.

I bought some cardboard photo cubes and ds (almost 5) has decorated them and I've stuck in photos / drawings of him and his wee sister.

Was 6.99 for 6 of them I think from yellow moon.

An orange/clove pomander finished with hanging ribbon.

My kids do this every year and the smell is divine.

DD2 (7) and I are making millionaire's shortbread for DH, they are doing kids baking packs in Asda and he loves it. I have little cellophane bags and silver ribbon, we will cut it up and wrap it beautifully.

Or you could make a home made cracker with a wee bought present inside?

What about decorating a t-shirt (or something), using fabric pens?

You could help her to sew on a bit of fabric or a few buttons from an old outfit of her own to make detailed bits (e.g. a teddye eyes, or a scarf on a hand drawn figure of herself/her father)?

Or decorate a small glass jar using glass paint or permaanent marker, to use as a tea-light holder, or pen holder?

Knitting / cross-stitch? Fudge?

Sorry, many typos. My keyboard may have suffered an unfortunate coffee-spilling accident..

The photo cubes are down to £2.99 a pack at Yellow Moon now.

They have a good selection of plain canvases at Dunelm Mill, I got some that we're a bit bigger than a4 for £3.49.
