Help baby doll that can go in bath and marble run- any suggestions?

Thought through a few ideas for my DS 4.5 and DD 2.9 presents to suggest to uncle who needs to buy them in the next few days. DD is obsessed with any baby doll she sees and I wanted her to have one that could actually go in the bath with her but if it does turn into a favorite toy that there are accesories/ clothes etc.

DS loves running balls down tubes etc so wondered about marble runs?

Have got myself confused & cant really get to the shops to check them out & find looking at pics on the net never seem to relate to the product I end up with.

So, any suggestions? Please

much as I loathe the early learning centre we have the marble run from there nad it's one of their most played-with toys.

it's easy to put together in all sorts of combinations, fairly robust... i'd recommend it

Thanks very much everyone!

Hi thisis yesterday,

Is yours a recent one? looked at the reiews and of course you cant believe them sometimes but say the bits dont fit together & it doesnt stay up.

Otherwise it looks perfect.

well ours is about 10+ years old!

but it looks identical to the new one. we bought one for a friend when it was half price and he loves it.

it's like anything that you have to join together and build up.. .if kids aren't careful with it then yes, it'll fall over. but if you build it up with a wide base (pref using more than 2 bases) then it's fine IMO

my 4 and 6 year olds will happily play with it for ages. it only falls down when the 2 year old gets involved Hmm

Thisisyesterday, sorry didnt mean to doubt your suggestion. Just got impression from reviews that the older reviews seemed positive but the more recent ones less so & wondered if they had been made less "robustly" Will suggest that one.

Thanks agein

I wouldn't recommend the elc marble run, the marbles are slightly smaller than normal marbles and normal marbles get stuck in some of the bits. ELC don't supply extra marbles even though they say they do. My DS has the galt one and I prefer it as it is simpler and he is more imaginative with it as a result (I originally wanted the elc one but mil got the galt one).

thisisyesterday · 15/11/2011 19:52

no, it's ok!

from pinkapplebys post you might be right and it may just have gone down quality-wise recently.

mine takes any old marbles, thankfully!

i wonder if you could get an older one on ebay?

tassisssss · 15/11/2011 20:03

Our dd (then 2) got this bath doll and matching bath last Christmas and they've been a huge hit!

Davidsmom · 15/11/2011 20:10

My dd has the baby annabel and that goes in the bath regularly!!!

I have bought her marble run for christmas (the galt one) so am hoping that it is good!!!

salvadory · 15/11/2011 20:14

I got this lovely doll for my daughters first Christmas, it comes with a lovely vanilla scented duck too. They're not the cheapest but nice for a special present, lots of lovely other dolls in the range.

sunnyday123 · 15/11/2011 20:20

i got the elc marble run - i thought it was a nightmare - had to cellotape it together in most places!! got shoved in the loft after a week and still there!

sunnyday123 · 15/11/2011 20:21

mine is 2yrs old

tassisssss · 15/11/2011 21:20

Yip, cupcakes doll (or baby Sophie as she is known) can certainly get wet. Dd loved bathing her on Christmas am and regularly since (often on the floor beside me while I shower!). Really it was a great hit and a fab price. IMO the fancier dolls are better for when they're a little older.

tiredteddy · 15/11/2011 21:24

The corolle tidoo doll is a really sweet doll that is soft bodied and suitable for the bath. You can get a baby bath set to go with it and also a great range of clothes, cot, pram etc too!

Davidsmom · 15/11/2011 21:29

Hi,

Thank you so much everyone that has replied. Thought I might get one or two suggestions but they are all great!

Will check in later but wanted to just say thanks and wish everyone a great Christmas.

We have the following Marble Run from Toysrus which is great. Don't know how the price compares to the ELC one though.

Carpediem2007 · 15/11/2011 22:08

we got the galt marble run from amazon and it s great. There are great wooden ones but much more expensive. I got cheap bags of extra marbles and they fit OK. Get the biggest set you can as it allows more combinations. Have fun, i think I enjoy it as much as DS (4).

WhatWouldLeoDo · 16/11/2011 14:10

I've bought this quercetti marble run for DS. The make had quite good reviews elsewhere and I thought this seemed quite good value for money. I ordered from the ebay shop in the link and it came pretty quickly.
