This mild rant, and also can anyone point me to a nice non-breakable teaset for DD (who's going to be 18 months at Christmas). Preferably in a basket and preferably tin (or possibly plastic).

Thanks x

Toys R Us do a nice plastic one inside a giant teapot. We had one for DD and one for no4 son for their first birthdays and they went down well. Toys R Us have quite a nice range of kitchen/food/picnic toys for little ones.

elc do a plastic one, incorporated with a tray, i believe

Thanks. I guess though I was thinking more traditional, like a picnic hamper style thing with kind of Cath Kidstoneque style pattern? There are a couple on Amazon but the reviews suggest they are really really tiny. I'll keep looking though. Thanks again. Smile

Still can't get over them selling porcelain tea sets for children under 5 though!

I had a porcelain teaset when I was little. I loved it. :)

I don't think they are aimed at under 5's though.

I haven't seen any tasteful teasets Grin DS had a plastic one :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. Smile Just found this one. Looks nice?

Depends on your flooring really. DD was given a couple of very similar china teasets when she was two or three, and has since also got an Ikea set, and has never broken any of them.

I did keep them away from the kitchen when we had very hard stone/tile floors, but she used them in rooms with wooden floors, and if you have carpet then you should be fine. Those mini teasets tend to be fairly robust china, and I think it's good to get them used to handling things with a little bit of care. We did also have lots of plastic plates and cooking stuff for playing with in the kitchen, or in the playhouse outside.

These are wooden and gorgeous.

exexpat - I expect it also depends on your DD Grin

piprabbit - they do look nice. Kind of have my heart set on one in a basket though so I've ordered the Egmont one I linked to. Found the dimensions somewhere online and it isn't too too tiny so hopefully it will be OK. Smile

I hope it is as nice in RL as it looks. I'm sure your DD will have a whale of a time offering you countless cups of tea Grin.

As will DS Grin
